Ours lasted just over a year. Motor comes on and immediately shuts off. I've disassembled and cleaned but nothing got it working. Big expensive disappointment but to be fair, the v10 and hair straightener have been solid for years.

Warranty says 1 Yr . I don't think it's nefarious actions at play but simple as this:

You got $300 so you buy a new one. You use it a few times and go ".....MY $20 ONE IS JUST AS GOOD!!!" and return it. Boom - Dyson now has a refurb on their hands. It's so easy to buy/return stuff. I had a roommate who did that with TVs. Go visit his family, buy a HDTV, and return when leaving....

My kid switched to a hair style that requires gel and takes a long damn time to dry. We got one of these and damn...it's wonderful. It's great. Runs country miles around that $20 we had.

Is there one for $100 that's better? Likely...but I'm not a stylist and I don't have time to go on extensive review trips of hair dryers. I think many of us who praise these Dysons are likely like me - it's much better than the cheap shit, but could be on par with a middling one. Dunno.

I recommend it nonetheless. Note: It's heavy as hell, so I wouldn't recommend it for folks with weak hands. My wife used the attachment to straighten hair and it was on point.

Went ahead and ordered. Wife never complains about her cheaper one, which she uses on herself and two girls, but I've come to realize that if it's expensive and popular, it's most likely worth it. Will give to her as an Xmas gift.
