That's not how it works you have to return the same one you bought from that place. One time I bought two airtags from best buy and needed to return one when I went there the guy scanned it and said it's not the one attached to your receipt even though it was mew unopened thet didn't took it and needed the same one because the receipt is attached to the serial number at many places for these items.

Thanks for the info...but I don't think it's devices because I currently have 16 Airtags and 4 devices on the Find My app right now. I'm assuming it's 16 Airtags (what they list as "items" under the Find My app).

1. Buy from any retailer (even staples) now.
2. Buy it from Staples (or Price match at any retailer) when it's on sale.
3. Refund the newly bought Airtags using the old receipt from step 1.
Dont they match the serial on the box?

My mom is constantly forgetful in where she placed her phone. Would using AirTags help with that?
Get an Apple watch- you can ping for the phone from the watch with an audible sound

department stores hid these in their expensive items to track shoplifters.
No they don't. That would literally be illegal.

I am DEEP in the Apple ecosystem. Please share with me some of your use cases for AirTags, I wonder if there's anything in my daily life that would be immediately made more efficient or comforting knowing I have one (or several).

Genuinely asking as this seems like a great price for a 4-pack.
I've seen these added e-bikes and motorcycles. I keep one under my motorcycle seat. You can buy an adapter that goes into the bike fork. Key is making it seamless as I am sure thieves will look for an AirTag on more expensive items.

Own a car? Hide one in there in case someone jacks your ride. Own an expensive bicycle? Same thing.

Every fly? Put one in your luggage. When you land somewhere and open the app to see that you bag is in a different city, it lets you go straight to the baggage office instead of waiting 30+ minutes to eventually realize your bag is gone, and agents are more helpful when you can tell them you *know* your bag is in a different airport.

Got a pet that wears a collar? Put this on there.

This may not be the best place to discuss but can someone suggest Airtags vs Tile or something else for an Android user?
I think Tile is the best option for Android users.

Here's The Wirecutter's review on different item trackers on the market.

A HomePod Mini would might be a more economical way to do this.

Thank you. The previous Airtag deal had a lot of negative reviews on the Tile products. I have an extra iPhone but I'm not going to carry that around in addition to my Android phone. Probably will give Tile a chance.

The tracker for the new integrated Google Account/Find network:

Chipolo One Point: https://chipolo.net/en-us/product...-one-point

Tile's network is non-existent outside of major cities and many notification features are behind paywall. Only the Tile Pro has user replaceable battery, everything else is major e-Waste.

Not sure if it illegal but surely unethical.

They scan the serial numbers. So this won't work.
