people laugh on why i keep buying dvd's and bluray but truth is you should never solely rely on streaming!
same reason you should have at least 2 tv antennas around the house! if your internet is down for a week you need to learn how to survive and not turn into a southpark episode searching for "internets".

Just a heads up "The consumer-electronics retailer will phase out sales of DVDs and Blu-ray discs both in-store and online in early 2024, according to industry sources familiar with the company's plans. Best Buy made the initial decision to end DVD sales nine months ago, according to one source."

Here is hoping they have major discounts on everything (particularly Steelbooks) whenever that happens.

Advantage of randomly waking up at 3:30 am EST… my haul -

Super Mario, The Flash, Howard the Duck, Across the Spiderverse, John Wick 4, and Dungeons and Dragons. Wife never saw The Flash and we both missed Dungeons and Dragons - cheaper buying the 4k than two early shows so. I am thinking of another few to add as well. Also see the Gruv sale, which has some interesting options for essentially $10/each.

I had gotten Wakanda Forever, Black Adam, Quantumania, and Rise of the Beasts via Best Buy last week or so when they were all on sale. Decided this year to avoid buying 4ks until Black November. I am very hopeful Best Buy and Walmart continue to either sell online or bring them back for Black November.

I am annoyed Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 is still $22 or so while the rest of like 2022-2023 MCU is $15.99. Might just put it on my holiday list as a fail safe.

Wondering if @Persian_Mafia is going to get any apologies from all the whiners who had to wait a whole extra day for the pricing that he listed.

Off by one day and you get hanged in effigy.

The ultimate fake out. Came a day later than everyone thought.

Just ordered a haul of these. Thankfully most of them were available for pickup around my local BB.

OP should let people know that almost all the WB digital codes are expired.

I found this thread that lists them:

That's nuts to me. Unless everyone has gigabit internet at home, streaming just can't compete in quality with physical media...
4k UHD quality is far far better than Streaming (Netflix, Amazon ..etc.) even on gigabit internet.

Right but then again but with DRM issues on ATSC 3.0 it just seems like these big corporations are trying to screw us

In for the Hunger Games collection at $2.50 per movie. But it's funny how some of the titles reaching back to the '40s are $10.

I buy to support the films/works I want to see keep being made. I will say a couple things:
  1. Set up a whole house antenna if you have the budget for it
  2. Streaming has the advantage of HEVC (which I don't think the 4K Blu-ray spec includes) the ability to continuously add features. It's also much more convenient if, like me, you have a very short attention span and are rarely able to watch a movie in 1 sitting. But at the end of the day you don't own the content and need a disc for the latter
Cheers!
All 4K Blu-Rays are encoded in HEVC. But I agree with your reasoning of supporting the films you want to see made.
