people laugh on why i keep buying dvd's and bluray but truth is you should never solely rely on streaming!
same reason you should have at least 2 tv antennas around the house! if your internet is down for a week you need to learn how to survive and not turn into a southpark episode searching for "internets".

Just a heads up "The consumer-electronics retailer will phase out sales of DVDs and Blu-ray discs both in-store and online in early 2024, according to industry sources familiar with the company's plans. Best Buy made the initial decision to end DVD sales nine months ago, according to one source."

Here is hoping they have major discounts on everything (particularly Steelbooks) whenever that happens.

Internet down for a week?!? Where do you live? Chernobyl? Or are you just a fellow Spectrum customer?
Anywhere rural USA. The only options are satellite or try and use a mobile data plan.

I suspect one day discs will stop being sold everywhere. Or the market reduces more, so the ones who control them get a monopoly on the prices. But in addition to less competition with disc sales, there is less competition for streaming. As those prices go up and up.

Many companies are going to subscription basis as they love the constant cash flow. Adobe, microsoft, (ads on instagram for monthly boxes, though it makes more sense for consumables), of course dvds like netflix have moved to streaming, prime, spotify, xmradio. Everything people used to own outright, they now pay a monthly fee in order to enjoy it. Then the companies raise the price every year because they can and because they are constantly "improving" it.

"The rise of subscription car services comes at an inflection point for the automotive industry."

Dracula, Blade Runner, and Fifth Element were more than I was hoping for but I grabbed them anyway.

John Wick 4 should have been on the $10 list by now.
I absolutely loved John Wick 1-3, but after buying 4 I have to say it was a major disappointment. Story, characters, believability of the fight scenes, and special effects all just fell short in my opinion.

Thankfully my local BB had almost every movie I wanted in-store. Ordered first thing this morning and my order is already ready for pickup.

I know there were just a few copies of most the movies left.

Hopefully the last movie I had to have shipped will make it.

You still have Walmart, Target and Amazon.
Yes, but Best Buy always had the best sales and was often the low price leader for new releases. Also they would price match if they weren't the lowest price. Only Amazon does that anymore and it's a hassle to get the price match most times.

Best Buy will be missed in the 4K disc selling space I think. Personally, I'd say they've gotten 90%+ of my 4k disc dollars over the last 10 years. I know there was one year where they had Marvel movie Steelbooks for $10 each and some sort of B2G1 deals on top of that. I purchased like 24 movies that year around Christmas time. Looking through my last 3 years of purchase history, I've used them pretty exclusively for 4k purchases, and they also got $362 for a Panasonic UB-820 in 2021 from me as well.

Sadly, Best Buy keeps getting rid of everything that kept me going into their stores; namely GCU for video games, 4k discs, and high end home audio equipment. Man I miss Best Buy in the early 2000s.

No thanks just use plex and watch all remux movies this way
Not sure how doing something illegal that requires an internet connection and a ton of storage space is comparable to buying movies on disc.

got Blade Runner, Howard the duck, training day, Total Recall, SISU and watchman. Plus some blind buys in Labyrinth, Knives out, and the untouchables. Used Discover cashback to get a GC for another 5% off.

Was hoping John Wick 4 would be $9.99 so going to wait that one out. Got a lot of other ones during the pre black Friday sale so I need to stop and watch the ones I got lol.

Best Buy would like to thank you on my wallet's behalf. But my bank would like to have a word with you. lol

I learned something new on this sale. Best Buy cuts you off at 25 items in your cart. I had to place 3 seperate orders. Hard to turn down 4k blu rays at $6 to $12.

If anyone is interested in a digital code from the 4k Interstellar and has a code from Puss & Boots The Last Wish, Elf or maybe Barbie, let me know as I would like to trade and have Interstellar as digital already.

Will only trade if you have some decent rep and history on here.

I want to get Blu-ray copies of Elemental and The Little Mermaid with digital codes. Right now they are priced at $16 and $18, respectively. Are these expected to be the lowest prices of the season for these two movies, or will Amazon or Walmart have a lower price in a week or so? I don't know whether to buy them now or wait and see if I can get them for a slightly better price closer to Black Friday. I'd love to hear your opinions.

Anyone else having trouble signing in to their Best Buy account? Looks like something is wack on their end.
