With the cash back and credit card rewards I'm still getting it for well below spot. I hope this helps :-)

If you want to invest in gold, I'd recommend using a fee-free ETF instead of buying physical metal.

If you buy this, you also need a fire-proof safe and that's going to set you back $$ you could have invested.
Who doesn't already have a safe? Thanks for your opinion though, I guess.

Paper gold isn't gold. Not your keys not your coins. These assets are insurance policies in case s*** hits the fan. Possession is 9/10 of the law. Put a certain percentage of your portfolio in a hard asset and store it safely in case you ever need it. In the case of this gold a simple safe should be enough.
Right? I don't get these people that don't get it and try to tell others how they should invest things.

Current price today is 1,953.85 so you're paying for the free shipping?

I haven't seen anyone mention the current 5% discount for wholesale clubs and PayPal with Chase freedom cards right now. It's only up to 1500$ charged, but that makes it a little juicier for those that think they need this.

I bought a bunch of 1oz silver rounds from Apmex a while back for $12.50 an oz after seeing it posted on Slickdeals..

Was it an unsafe purchase?
According to all these donkeys you're an idiot.

whats the point with the added risk of storage, loss, theft, commissions on sale when you can just pick a gold tracked ETF?
True in theory, but there are a few reasons if you're actually curious.

1. The ETFs are highly manipulated. JPM has been fined millions over their manipulation of silver prices.
2. You pay a fee to hold the ETF. If it won't be stolen from you and you already have a place to store it at home, it's no extra cost to hold it yourself.
3. What good will the ETF be if the USD crashes and no one wants your dollars? It's not like you can sell your portion of gold for other currencies or physical goods. You can with physical.
4. How do you know you're buying physical gold allocated directly to you and stored in a specific location and not some derivative of it? It's fine when things are stable but not when things really start to go south... Which is the whole point of buying gold in the first place: it's an extremely dense physical money (not paper).

Disclaimer: I have all my gold in ETFs, not in physical.

It's well below spot with 5% back from Chase freedom flex. Gold is a long term investment, and costco is a reliable seller.
FIY that the 5% chase rewards or cb is just up to $1500 purchase for this quarter 4.
So the max you get is $75 for each chase card.

not the deal this used to be, hence the slow sales (still available now)
gold is headed down to 1900 or high 1800s. 1899 plus the cash back is fairly a good deal, or at least much lower risk/better potential upside. $1999 nah.
You really think 5% price difference matters?

Where can you get an oz of gold from a reliable seller for less than $1999.99 with a credit card right now?
