Regardless if you decide to buy this particular unit or not, one KEY specification you should locate prior to purchase with any home "A/V type" Receiver:

Bolded effect added by me for emphasis -

Power output (All channels):

200 W/Ch (6 ohms, 1 kHz, 10% THD,1-ch driven)

90 W/Ch (8 ohms, 20 Hz-20 kHz, 0.08% THD,
2-ch driven, FTC)

Hope this information is insightful / helpful.

God damnit. I got burned hard by a bad HDMI board from Onkyo years ago. It was a giant recall that the old heads in here will remember. But for this price I'm thinking of rolling the dice again. SMH I'll never learn.

Slim to none.

This is the cheapest I've ever seen this receiver.

Be careful when buying such an item through a Walmart re-seller (Sold and shipped by Cowboy Joe's Discount City) because if you don't like it or have an issue with the unit, you have to deal with the re-seller. This happened to me with an Apple product and it was a huge hassle to return an item that was defective.

I'd say this. Both pretty equal but this is $80 cheaper. https://www.zkelectronics.com/com...tx-nr6050/

If it matters, ONKO and sister Pioneer A/V have had a troubled recent financial history. There were stretches where it was not clear either A/V brand would survive. Neither brand is the independent brand they used to be. Both A/V brands were snapped up by brand collector VOXX (Audiovox). It isn't clear who makes Pioneer AVRs for them, but it appears ONKYO AVRs are now made by Sharp for them.

I owned a Pioneer Elite AVR during that stretch that had wonky HDMI and subwoofer functionality - "Pioneer" was nowhere to be found.

That gives me enough to pause hitting order now. Read some one star reviews on Amazon that seem to confirm what you are saying.

Returned mine. Nothing but headaches with any Dolby surround source. Got a Denon and so so much happier.

I have an Onkyo receiver that does everything for me but Dolby Vision. It does HDR though. Would you agree that the difference between DV and HDR (watching on an OLED TV) is not worth upgrading a receiver?

can you please explain how that compares to for example the Denon S960 that is currently 399? is this very weak compared to that one?

everyone is saying this one is very weak in terms of power out. Do you know how the Denon compares? This my price point. Not sure what to do
