Regardless if you decide to buy this particular unit or not, one KEY specification you should locate prior to purchase with any home "A/V type" Receiver:

Bolded effect added by me for emphasis -

Power output (All channels):

200 W/Ch (6 ohms, 1 kHz, 10% THD,1-ch driven)

90 W/Ch (8 ohms, 20 Hz-20 kHz, 0.08% THD,
2-ch driven, FTC)

Hope this information is insightful / helpful.

God damnit. I got burned hard by a bad HDMI board from Onkyo years ago. It was a giant recall that the old heads in here will remember. But for this price I'm thinking of rolling the dice again. SMH I'll never learn.

Slim to none.

This is the cheapest I've ever seen this receiver.

I'd say this. Both pretty equal but this is $80 cheaper. https://www.zkelectronics.com/com...tx-nr6050/
All the audiophile review sites put this up against the Denon S760H (not the S960H which is currently 399). The 760H appears to be reguarly going for $320.

So im wondering why you think they are pretty equal

My TX-SR607 had the same issue a few years back. Replaced the diodes on the HDMI board myself and still use it daily on my home theater system. This deal is REALLY tempting.

I own this receiver. I paid $400 for it and it has served me well. I'd like to clarify a few things for potential buyers.

1) It's power rating is not an issue. I have it configured in a 5.1.2 (7 speakers, 2 subs connected by a y-connector) with an open floor plan and have no issues with volume being too low or my speakers clipping. In addition, I have 4 speakers connected in parallel to Zone 2. No issues there either. I own a separate amplifier but cannot use the app to control the volume of Zone 2 when using an amp so I use the integrated amp.

2) Onkyo was bought by Voxx. Voxx also owns Klipsch, and you'll find settings specifically for Klipsch speakers. Voxx has numerous businesses under it's umbrella so the brand is stable. No need to worry about this at all.

There are some settings that are not available in the default menu. To access them, you'll need to access the menu via your network. There are expanded options for 4k 120hz devices. Once I learned how to use the receiver it's been smooth sailing. There are no preouts other than for Zone 2.

Have onkyo 5.1 speakers (SK* 370 series) - each 120w/ 6ohms. Would this receiver match? Read some articles and looks like this amp generates more power (200W / Ch @ 6ohms) and might damage the speakers? Expert comments?

Your first link is refurbished and expired and the other is expired. The Denon deal is for the 970H which matches up with the Onkyo but the Onkyo is $80 cheaper.

I am wondering if any progress has been made on longevity of these type of Unit, mine lost functionality after a few years and I can not count how many unit I see recycled with the equivalent over heating issues, shutdown blinking red light because of power issue. Unfortunately, it is a factor usually absent from reviews...

So no issue with 4k 120hz passthrough on PS5?
Nope. It's been pretty amazing.

can you please explain how that compares to for example the Denon S960 that is currently 399? is this very weak compared to that one?
A quick click on the link of the Denon to the site, then clicking on the "Specs" Tab provides the following information for the Denon AVR-S970H 7.2-Channel 8K Network AV Receiver:

Power Output per Channel
2-Channel Driven:
90 W at 8 Ohms / 20 Hz to 20 kHz / 0.08% THD
125 W at 6 Ohms / 1 kHz / 0.7% THD

1-Channel Driven:
185 W at 6 Ohms / 1 kHz / 10% THD

From a power capabilities standpoint they look VERY similar in real terms, the little bit of greater output isn't likely to be decernably "louder" in real world listening.

This seems very similar to my Onkyo NR626 that I got in 2013. Is there any difference?

Just an fyi from someone who has owned a LOT of AVR's over the years, don't buy one based on "sound quality" if you're looking at models from the major manufacturers. You couldn't pick one from the other in a blind test with all controls set to flat when comparing similarly equipped models. Spend more for better room EQ/correction. It's is worth it! Buy based on features and power requirements. Most mainstream consumer speakers designed for typical residential rooms only require 100 watts or so to get loud enough. Don't fret over 100 vs 150 watts. Unless you have very low sensitivity or low impedance speakers, you won't notice the difference, ESPECIALLY if you're using a powered subwoofer. And if you do have a combination of low sensitivity AND low impedance speakers, you should be looking at separate amps if you're in a medium to large room. An AVR would likely be ok in a small room…think small bedroom converted to listening room or small home theater.

This or the Denon deal that was posted recently?
I have both receivers. Can't go wrong with either one. Both are great for the price point.

If you look at the latter ratings the true power delivery to two speakers (stereo music between frequencies 20Hz-20KHz) per FTC rated regulations is only 90 watts per speaker, while keeping the distortion to .08%.

This may help explain it better:
