I've got this Yamaha RX-V992

My confusion is that this Onkyo doesn't seem to list the power (watts) for ALL the channels; only the front Left/Right, so I'm wondering if it can power rear Right/Left and a center channel as well.
If you look on pg 84 (specs) of the Yamaha manual above, it clearly states the RMS wattage for ALL 5 channels.
I'm probably misunderstanding this. Maybe someone can clear up

I see reference only to "both channels", or "Front" but nothing for "Rear" channels, like my old Yamaha has listed in its' manual...
7.2 is speaker based surround
5.2.2 is object based surround
Love it on my Pioneer in the living room with my MA Gold setup. Denon/Marantz gives no love to chromecast.
Older onkyo consume around 65w standby and it looks like new ones too?
I'm trying to find myself a reason to upgrade. If power consumption is lower in standby it'll be great. electricity is expensive in CA.

remember when looking at bells and whistles (features), that some denon models charge for upgrades that are standard on other brands so make sure to compare apples to apples.

They have thee biggest affect on the quality of what you hear imo.
Figure out what bells and whistles you need/want and just buy a used receiver that offers them.
You will get a higher quality receiver for much less doing that imo.
It's good you are starting with a 5.1.
Often people try to squeeze in "Atmos" on a tight budget resulting in less than optimal overall performance imo.
I get the price is enticing but you are paying for features you don't need or use.
My 2 cents, good luck.
7 or 9.1 is extremely challenging in a small environment.

I will primarily use it to play old CDs, stream tidal and play bluray discs in a 5.1 setup in an apartment connected to Defintive technologies' D15 system.
