Aside from the convenience of the airpods within the apple ecosystem, the sonys are better earbuds.

It is funny how everyone crying about battery issues. Every company has issues, samsung with exploding batteries, apple with their own update bs intentionally messing with battery charging to force customers to buy new phones. I bet the cry babies still buying apple products even agreed after they admitted their wrong doing to scam you out of $800+ for a new device. $200 vs $800+ who is the bigger crook?

Lol, you're cute. These have objectively better sound quality than the Airpods Pro 2. Airpods only support AAC, no LDAC.

Do you know what any of that means? The XM5s support bitrate of 990kbps while Airpods Pro 2 support bitrate of 320kbps.
Please please please stop comparing sound quality using codecs and bitrates unless you know what you are doing. Codecs and bitrates are an upper bound on the audio quality, they don't actually determine the audio quality themselves unless you are using really really shit codecs and bitrates.

Pretty much no one is going to hear the difference between 990kbps and 320kbps. And you can't even compare bitrates across codecs, 320kbps AAC is not equivalent to 320kbps LDAC. In fact 320kbps AAC on iPhone is better than 320kbps LDAC on Android, see: https://www.soundguys.com/wp-cont...6.jpg.webp and https://www.soundguys.com/wp-cont...6.jpg.webp (taken from https://www.soundguys.com/ldac-ul...ide-20026/ and https://www.soundguys.com/the-ult...aac-20296/). Also, if you look at the graphs, you can see the same audio file with the same codec and the same bitrate produce completely different results depending on the encoder used.

None of this matter anyways though, once again, very few people are going to hear the difference, especially on consumer-level earbuds like these.

What you should really be focusing on is the drivers and the audio processing, those will make the biggest difference.

seriously? no offense but Sony, meh... LMAOLMAOLMAO
sticking to AirPods, a reddit review:

I can't think of one way in which the XM5s are better than the Airpods Pro 2.

ANC: Worse (because the passive isolation is doing most of the work, not the ANC)

Transparency: Much worse

Price: Much more expensive

Sound quality: Both good

Comfort: Worse (for me)

Thuds when running: Much worse

Control system: Much worse (four taps to change volume!)

and he aint mentioning the service from Sony, referring to the other replies...

You are expecting too much from iSheep, most of them probably don't even know what is AAC or LDAC, they blindly believe what ever Apple latest is the best.

I can hear the difference between Apt-X HD (320kbps on Senn TW) and LDAC (990 kbps on XM5)

How can you hear a difference in codec/bitrate between two completely different earbuds? How are you so sure you are not hearing the difference in earbud?

Since everyone seems to be comparing these to the AirPod Pro 2's with few actual / sourced stats, here is the rtings comparison of the two:

Hello guys,
I've heard enough Sony firmware issues, and I had the same issue with my Sony left earbud. My BIG question here is we have no way to fix it?
Thanks.

I just got mine about a week ago from Beach Camera, and they are amazing. I have an iPhone and have owned every version of Air Pods and Beats earbuds, and they ALL fall out of my ears often. The XM5s fit like earplugs and do not fall out even after sweating or being active. They sound better as well. I actually like the tap commands; they are intuitive to me. Even more so than the swipe commands on Air Pods. I do miss the fast switching between all my devices, the Spacial Audio, and the superior transparency of Air Pods, but until Apple actually comes out with earbuds that don't fall out of my ears, I will look elsewhere.

I tried the Sony's and really wanted them to be better than the AirPods, but I just didn't see enough difference to justify the price. I really don't care for either of them in the gym, but the Sonys, even after trying different size tips, never fit correctly.

Not to insert another variable, but the best sounding and fitting earbuds I've had in this range are the Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 3. Great sound and amazing fit while in the gym.
