For the other Kindle Paperwhite, some of them have the option for replacement battery. So, Oasis is really poor in that area.
On top of that, probably because of software issue, once you download a file to your Oasis, the file system would try to re-index no stop. If you have a lot of files, the sorting will drain all the battery power. From my experience, I don't turn on wifi on my Oasis and I rarely add any file to it. It is in high maintenance mode for me.
Consider Oasis 2 was introduced Nov 2017. A refurbished one would have very poor battery life after 6 years.
As a result, I treat my Oasis as a collector item and I use Kindle Paperwhite for my reading.
Been reading ebooks off iPad pro 12.7 and my phone π€³π». This should be a better way for me to read ebooks.
Just placed order! 32 gb seems really good (I have audio books)
the 4g lte free connection seems cool on paper, not sure on actual usage tho
My first kindle device of any type.
Will find out in few days !

I bought one of this older 32GB few years ago ($110) for my niece, and she recently lost it. My sister asked me to buy a 16GB 2021 version as a replacement for her daughter in coming BF sale, while noting that the 2018 version would probably not be availlable anymore brand new.
As soon as I saw this for $55, it's a no brainer for me and in for 2. One for niece and one for my son this time (his 1st kindle reader). At $55, it's still a very solid device. The 2021 new features are not really appealing to me, except the larger screen (but of coz heavier). I usually don't recommend to read in the dark (for the good of eyes) and would rather use this 2018 for few years and get a 2024 or 2025 version in the future.... if needed

I'm tempted to buy a couple more for family members, but doubt anybody would use it...
It does appear that Amazon still uses a cell carrier in the US. I wonder which one.
2019 will receive updates until 2026.
