I'm grateful for users that predicted this deal in both Target and BB deal threads. I bought one from the Target deal, and I'm definitely going to use this. Thank you, SD members.
The terms say you need to buy the 3 months directly from mint mobile. Doesn't say you can buy from Target or Best Buy. I hope you can but terms say buy from Mint
I checked with a Mint mobile agent and they said there is an issue with their system and the offer is not working right now on their site. She said there is no promo code. The 3 free months should be automatically added to your cart. She suggested trying again in a few hours.

Get enough existing customers to quit at the same time so they cave and offer the deal to existing customers.

What kind of phone should I get for this? Can I go buy a prepaid phone at Wal-Mart to use? Do I just need to make sure it's an unlocked phone?

A TMobile-branded phone should work as well.

Mint runs on TMo network -- you can buy an unlocked phone or a TMo locked phone is also fine

Can't use ATT locked or Verizon locked phones on Mint

Mint uses the TMO network, so that's why it should work. A VZW phone won't unless unlocked and has the TMO bands which it may not.

ahh the usual bait and switch. you'll get your six months but then lose your number (in order to get back on a new customer offer, the defining factor seems to be that you will lose your number) or price will double. unless you prepay for 12 months later.

you cant. hate that. this is mint's longtime business model. the good deals are only for new customers. instead of a sustainable reasonable good deal for all and valuing loyal current customers.

i'm sure its a bean counter thing. attracting the new customer is more important.

my cable internet company , Optimum, does that exact same thing. the only good deals are for "new customers". i hate it there too.

The simplest and most reliable way is to open a Google Voice account. Then port whatever you consider to be your primary mobile phone number to Google Voice. You then setup Google Voice and your phone for call forwarding. When set up properly, all calls received on the new number Mint gave you are forwarded to your Google Voice number and your phone rings! You also have options on your mobile device to have it show your permanent Google Voice number on the caller ID of people you call instead of the number Mint gave you. You do these things, and then you can keep signing up for Mint with an email address you hadn't used previously, get a new phone number from them, and as far as they're concerned you're a new customer.

This may sound like a lot of hoops to jump through, but actually, once you've ported your number to Google Voice it's really not that much and you can endlessly sign up as a new customer until Mint finally changes the way they do all of this. Hope this helped you out Smilie

Can I ask.. is the whole point of doing this so you have a "real" number in Google Voice.. so that you're always able to receive any 2FA from any bank / web site? Isn't there a fee to import a number into Google Voice? I've used Google Voice for many years but never actually ported a real cell phone number into it. So I'm not fully sure how it works.. I wanted to ask you.

Also, isn't it true as soon as you port your Mint Mobile number in then you lose basically the data, etc. that you had with Mint? Then you'll need to find WiFi to connect to to use Google Voice.. like for example, I signed up for the 3 month with Mint and I still have 1.5 months remaining.. so if I port to Google Voice now.. then I'll lose the 1.5 months of Mint service.. but I guess you're also saying that I could just simply sign up for a new 3 month Mint promotion?

If the phone was unlocked by VZ then you can check the IMEI on Mint to see if its eligible to use:

If its still VZ locked then you can't use it

I only got 3 months. I've contacted their customer service 3 times and they all told me I didn't qualify and it doesn't start tell Nov 19th. even though the terms say Nov 12th. Edit: I called and they said that the website I'm on is not mint mobile because they don't have a Black Friday deal going on currently

So the target deal cannot be stacked with this b3g3 offer Roll Eyes (Sarcastic) ?
It does if you don't mind losing your number. I'm activating my Target deal mid December to get me to March but purchasing this deal before it expires in January and activating it when my service is up in March, about 45 days roughly, all thanks to Google Voice!! Smilie
