Yes I can eyeball the temperature of a fifteen pound brisket just once during a eight hour cook.
I have the 3 probe version, same size, just has an extra charge port for the 3rd probe (From Sam's for $150). Works well within probably 10-15 ft of the grill, but drops to half the distance when it has to go through a house wall. The ambient temperature is somewhat accurate, but becomes less so at higher temps. I asked about it from the company, they said the food temperature affects the ambient temperature reading, and to test it in boiling water. The ambient and "meat" temperatures were almost identical in boiling water and at room temperature on the counter, so it was just a result of the way it was designed I guess. I just use ambient as a guide to make sure my smoker is still working (not out of pellets or having a jam). I have never used a Meater.
Being able to cook a 15lb brisket in 8 hours is even more impressive.

Too expensive,if you need that to cook then you shouldn't be cooking
I got the single probe version a year ago, and it's great for long cooks and particularly great for smoking meat. The time it takes a smoker to get a piece of meat to temp can be highly variable, and the probe gives you the ability to be away from home and still carefully monitor the progress of the cook. If you cook enough meat in a smoker, a product like this is a must!
Haven't tried meater, but I returned mine. These probes can't live out side the hub, basically have no range. I have to leave the hub right next to the grill to be able to do anything, have to try several times because even closing the grill door may disconnect it from the hub. Without obstacles in between, the range is less than 5ft. So, basically in order to continuously monitor temp, you need to insert both the prob and the hub into the brisket…. This thing is the worst!!!

Right? Give me one for $59. Especially since there's only one charging dock in the case.
This is actually pretty bad, the probe disconnect from the hub by closing the grill door
