I have these and they are quite good. Imaging is surprisingly good. Bass is fine, though not what you'd expect given the appearance of the speakers, but keep in mind the woofers on the side are passive radiators. Remote is a nice add, but that they didn't include track forward/back is annoying. Also the eq is on the remote only and since not dials you don't know what the setting is. Wish they had put eq knobs on the back of the speaker and given bt shuttle control on the remote. Oh well. Build quality is pretty good. I'm not a huge fan of the open design aesthetic. Overall I like them, and they get better if you can space them a bit further away from you. On my desktop they are good, but in my living room sound much better 6 feet away from me, good deal at current price.

The MM-5R are also on sale hmmm which one would be better?
In theory the MM-5R should provide better highs with the amt tweeter while the MTM-100 should have better lows and bass with dual 4" drivers and dual 5" passive radiators. They do both have a subwoofer out jack so maybe the MM-5R could be a better choice if you are planning to use a sub with it.

But as always audio quality is a bit subjective. Some people really like the way amt/ribbon tweeters sounds while others find it too harsh on the ears, especially when sitting 1 to 2 feet away from them as computer speakers.

These are totally worth at this price. Sound quality is great. If you are okay with looks of it, then great desktop or small room speaker. Bass is decent doesn't go that low, but you can always connect a sub if needed. I'd guess MM-5R would be little brighter cuz of the ribbon tweeter and more directional (narrow) compared the MTM-100.

Competition is Klipsch PROMEDIA HERITAGE 2.1. I went with this at that time because of the price difference, easier placement and sub. However, the sound profile on MTM-100 is more neutral - preferable if priority is Music. Not Gaming or Movies.

My biggest problem with these is with the other offerings available from monoprice.

MM-5R is basically the same price, better tweeter, similar low end since its single woofer is bigger, still huge for a desktop speaker but not as big as the 100's, which are 14" tall.

And if that doesn't interest you then they also have dome tweeter conventional 5.25" single woofer models that are half the price.

I just don't see a situation where I'd personally choose these 100's. I'd go MM-5R (or others outside of monoprice) or go with the cheaper 5.25" models. I suppose they might make sense if you are looking for more of a bookshelf speaker than desktop.

The tweeter may be better, but I doubt it's significantly better. The vertical MTM design is going to provide fantastic imagining for near-field which is probably more important for normal listening. Really can't lose with either, but it's these for me.

Can anyone comment on latency of these? I've got some Desktop Monitors (PreSonus Eris E5, Bluetooth 5.0) and can't unsee(unhear?) the delay when I'm editing.
I had nothing but trouble from Presonus, went to KEF x300a those rocked. Then went to css criton 1tdx with upgraded crossovers, the best bookshelf I have ever owned. I have the Monoprice thx center that is in the theater alongside 15' sub Monoprice products are quite good.

Anyone have these? Looks like a solid deal.
My brother has these very good, detailed, full punchy sound, however they distort at max volume. We believe it's the bass that distorts. He messaged customer support but they were no help. For refernece we compared them to my KEF LSX II.

I can say Ive been thoroughly impressed with the monolith line. Both as sound quality and value. I don't have these but I'm sure they're quality. For the dough, your getting a killer deal. It's nice also that it's not tied to a particular company's ecosystem as well. Plus a 5 year warranty (on monolith items only) is unheard of

I used to put a certain amount of value on the brand name and Heritage as well but just as somebody explain to me, people don't worry about the brand when their immersed in the music or the movie. not once has someone asked me what brand my bookshelves are, first reaction it is usually damn, those sound better than my entertainment setup. followed by where am I putting my sub at? (there isn't one) I have the MM5R for reference. Paid 300 for. I would be in for a set of these if I didn't literally not have anywhere to put ot. I have a sound setup in every room lol. It's just a bit more than the price of a single Sonos one
How do the MTM-100 compare to the MM-5R? They are about the same price.

I had these but returned them after a week only because of the BT staying connected even when it was in sleep mode. This was incredibly annoying as all other speakers I have (Edifiers, 1850s, Klipsch R15PM, and Samsung soundbar) with bluetooth, they all disconnect from my phone when I put them to sleep (or what's basically supposed to be off), but these do not. They stay connected unless switch the main power in switch off or I manually disconnect from my phone.

Not a big deal to some, but it's annoying when you missing a ton of messages/notifications because you had these connected to the MTM-100s to listen to music but then turned them to sleep but your phone stays connected and sends audio to these (which don't make any sound since they're in sleep).

I contact Monoprice support and they offered no solutions. I really would have liked to keep them otherwise, the sound was super impressive to me.

I like them. I'm not an audiophile but they were the first speakers that made me go "wow", when I could hear things that I couldn't hear before. But you NEED a subwoofer- you can tell when should be bass but you won't feel it since... these really aren't meant to reproduce bass. It's really amazing, normally when speakers can't produce bass, you can just "hear" this muddled sound that's supposed to be "bass" but with these, there's no such thing- but you just get a sense that there should have been bass. As for how you get that bass, is up to you. I have mine matched to a spare Energy 8 inch subwoofer I've had.

I just purchased the MM-5R instead. Disappointed I couldn't find more reviews on them. But the reviews that I did find say that that MM-5R do have more bass. I was afraid with the ribbon tweeter they may be brighter, too bright for my taste. But most people call them well balanced. I am more of a bass head. I'm certainly not an audiophile. There is some controversy about them claiming that they are bi-amp since the slave speaker only has one set of wires so the woofer and tweeter can't be amped independently at least on that side. I was kind of put off by what seems like false advertising on the specs. They had years to correct any misstatements on the product information.

But people seem to be pretty happy with the sound... I figured I'd give him them a try. I was leaning towards the MTM-100 based on looks and thinking that they were going to have more bass. Wish I could listen to both side by side. Like I said I'm not an audiophile. I just know I'm not happy with my sound bar and I don't expect anything amazing, just better than what I have. I wanted true stereo and with the optical in supposedly the MM-5R will turn on automatically. As simple bass and trouble controls. Hopefully it sounds good enough without the fuss and complication.
