I saw this deal while going down the rabbit hole of Dewalt combo deals. I'm trying to dive into the Dewalt ecosystem and would love to get some feedback from experts!

12v are great for people that carry them around and just use them for light screw driving like HVAC techs. You try putting a 20v max tool on your belt and getting up an attic access with a tool bag 12 times a day. I'm sure that 20v scares the screws into submission though.

Not sure what a 12v impact is good for though.

that's not a bad thing. the 12V multi tool is better than either of the 20V multi tools. it's more powerful, built better and breaks down less often. both of the 20V multi tools are decade old designs that dewalt doesn't give enough of a s**t to update because people keep buying them every time they break

I have put my M12 fuel impact through all manner of residential and commercial construction and it's a beast. It'll easily run 3 inch wood screws and 2"-3" tapcons. It won't do it as fast but it'll still get the job done.

OP, I would skip the 12v DeWalt line and go with 20v tools even if it's just for around the house. I would also go with 4ah or 5ah batteries at a minimum.

I've been an HVAC service tech for almost two decades and I've always used the Dewalt 12v. I've only had to buy a new one because I left one on a roof top in the rain. I cannot recommend the Dewalt 12v drill enough. It's lasted longer than any of my coworker's Milwaukee 12v drills
