The deal here is not the price of the device per se but rather the price of the storage upgrade and money/time saved for the process if you want to DIY it. This is a good deal for someone looking to get the 2TB

I know the price of the Lenovo Legion Go will not go down during Black Friday. The 512GB is sold for $700, and the 1TB is $750. Micro Center is selling the 2TB for $800. The 0.5TB and 1TB are the official storage capacity for the device. 2TB upgrade is done by Micro Center. They use VisionTek 2TB DLX4 2242 M.2 PCIe 4.0 x4 SSD.

Buying the Legion Go from Micro Center will save you money and time by paying an extra $50 to get the 2 TB Capacity.

If you want to upgrade to 2 TB yourself, you will need to spend about $140 for the SSD, and then open the device yourself which could be cumbersome, depending on the level of experience. You will also need to clone the old SSD into the new one during the DIY.

Return policy: Return By 1/29/2024

Do not get any kind of extended warranty or accident protection for the device from MC. It is cheaper to buy it directly from Lenovo, if needed.

I'm very impressed with the performance of the Legion Go and image quality, especially with the 8.8 amazing screen.

I bought my 2TB from there and will be returning it.
According to their website, they have a holiday return policy much akin to Best Buy's where you can return until January 15th. The store I went to didn't know about this policy, but said they would honor it after I showed it to them. They said the gift receipt would be proof enough.
What they didn't tell me was that it would only be eligible for an exchange or store credit.

Cool device but unfortunately execution on Lenovo's part is pretty bad. Very surprised about this since Lenovo Legion are some of the best gaming laptops you can buy and are very well reviewed. Looks like I will be hanging onto my Steam Deck and Rog Ally for now.

Filterless is very good YouTuber when it comes to handhelds. Don't be fooled by his low sub count, he's very thorough and knowledgable.

Reasons why he's returning his unit: https://youtu.be/OCcFX0MiTUs

Lenovo Legion division makes some of the best gaming laptops in the world. We own a bunch of them. Hopefully their second gen will be much improved.

The problem with this device at $800 is that you can get a solid RTX 4050 laptop for that price with better battery life, bigger screen, easier expandability, and frankly just about the same portability.

You've got to pick one of these up and hold it in your hand and see how utterly obnoxious it would be for portable.

... By the way OP, micro Center is doing 30-day returns right now.
They're not doing it for this device. I just drove to the Tustin store this morning and asked them about it while looking for some SSD and GPU. SSD and GPU is 30 days but this one is 15 days. I do agree with you that you're better off getting a 4050 or even some 4060 laptops for the same price and getting more bang for the buck.

It really depends on what you need. Someone else could compare the laptop with a desktop. The same way a handheld is compared to a laptop. You can still a transfer a desktop around to some extent... maybe...

My friend, that introduced me to handheld world with his Steam Deck, would never bring a laptop with him on the go to play. He works at a shop and there is an extended downtime and just plays with Steam Deck. He used to bring a laptop one year ago as a gaming device but hated the lower portability and bigger size.

That aside, I experienced holding the 7" with Steam Deck and Asus ROG Ally, and I don't feel the bother of holding the Lenovo Go maybe because I have bigger hands Smilie and because I'm truly enjoying the image of that 8.8" screen heart

As for the return policy, I expected 15 days only because I thought the policy excludes computers. I did not ask an associate, I read the policy here: https://community.microcenter.com...urn-policy

There is an asterisk on the word "all" and it excludes many items including PC.

It is excluded according to their policy https://community.microcenter.com...urn-policy
but nice of them to offer the return.

Seems reasonable; either gift card/store credit to the person returning the gift. They might be able to return back to the credit card of the person purchased this as a gift, but you might not want that.

Why did you return it

I got an open-box excellent from Best Buy for about 180 cheaper.

I checked with the salesperson and the manager that the Go would be eligible for a return according to the holiday return policy.

Eh, cash is always better, and the salesperson made no mention knowing full well that it wasn't a gift.

Thanks for sharing. I watched this video and I can't seem to agree with any of the reasons he mentioned except for the first reason which is the dead zone. I have to say that I did not notice any dead zone like he's facing, but I agree with him that it is a valid reason if you have it.

All the remaining reasons are invalid and are just words to fill a video in my opinion. The sound quality is great. He's complaining that the screen is bigger than what he desire. Well, that wasn't a secret and I don't have issue with that size. I prefer it much more than the 7" personally.

No issues with USB C or the buttons. I guess he is right in saying if you like it then you don't need to return it.

Picked one of these up, only been a few hours and I'm already sure my Ally is going to be a handmedown gift. Swapping drives is really simple in most of these handhelds but for $50 over the 1TB (or realistically $100 over the 512GB you'd get if planning to upgrade) already done is a decent value since you are locked to 2230/2242 chip and a decent gen4 will be $150+. Armory crate is a little more polished but I don't really use either software much. There are a couple games/apps the go doesn't seem to recognize automatically and will try and run super low wattage resulting in drops to 20-30fps, but a quick change to manual 20w or 25w and it's 60 again. Speakers are a solid good but not great, Ally is better but where I use these I'm not using the speakers, either muted running a side game while at desktop or I'm in public with headphones. Screen is an absolute beauty, games look so much better than the ally. Built in kick stand already getting appreciated use. Tried out fps mode, and even with some learning curve it's nice. Couple games I play that the thumbstick control is cancer this is more convenient than carrying a mouse in my bag. Also the 2 ports is quite nice, always needed a dock to charge and use a second USB with ally sucked. Charging with one while other can be free to plug in is 100% perfect.

What do you recommend to have a better gaming experience? Any links, not too familiar on the pc gaming laptop ways.

If you're looking for a laptop this seems like a good deal: https://slickdeals.net/f/17060143-microcenter-in-store-lenovo-legion-pro-5i-16-qhd-240hz-i7-13700hx-rtx-4070-32gb-ddr5-1tb-ssd-1299-99

If you don't have mircocenter, B&H has one with slightly better CPU for $100 more: https://slickdeals.net/f/17039299-lenovo-legion-pro-5i-16-qhd-240hz-i9-13900hx-rtx-4070-32gb-ddr5-1tb-ssd-1499-free-shipping

Best Buy is going to littered with these during the return period. 1TB open box is already 560. Might be worth the risk for some.

I got a Open Box Ally for 483 and it was near new condition.

Facebook Marketplace might be another good alternative.

I don't understand all the negative. I own a ROG Ally, Steam deck, Lenovo Handheld, Logitech G-Cloud. Just ordered the OLED Steam deck today.

Be happy to be alive with all these amazing choices. All are amazing, all have issues.

Get them all like I do and enjoy gaming in every way possible!

Happy Holidays.

It should fall within their holiday policy. It was 30 days when I picked it up a couple of weeks ago.
