I tried this out for a couple of weeks and I did really like it. A few impressions:

-Performance is solid and smooth, it easily handled whatever I threw at it.
-The 7:5 aspect ratio was so good - one of my favorite uses was multitasking in portrait mode: could watch a video on the top and actually adjust the multitasking window so the video would be full screen with no black bars on the top/bottom, leaving 2/3 of the screen for whatever else I wanted.
-It's bigger than an iPad and a bit heavier than one too, but wasn't unwieldy.
-I think the keyboard is actually pretty good. The pen is nice if you can get it for $50.
-67W charging on a tablet is fantastic. Fast charging makes it harder for me to go back to slower charging devices (iPad).
-Speakers are great, battery life is pretty good, screen is good...but...

I did wind up returning it, even though I liked it. My screen had a lot of motion blur, more than I would expect on an LCD panel. Most reviewers praised the screen, but Ars thought it was terrible, and I did see the issues they were talking about. But I might have had a lemon, too - most reviewers don't mention any blurriness (and fwiw the OnePlus return experience was decent, never gave me any trouble). I did run into a few bugs in the software, nothing serious but annoying. App compatibility is typical for Android tablets: some apps will only display in portrait. Also, while it does have a 144Hz screen, you'll only see that quick of a response rate in the homescreen and in a few key apps (at least it includes Chrome) - OnePlus does this with their phones as well, they limit what apps get the full refresh rate, arguably to help battery life. Lastly, while there is a promise of getting the slick multitasking that the OnePlus Open has, right now multitasking is limited to two apps on screen with a floating window for a third, and not all apps will run in this mode (YouTube Music frustratingly refused any of them). Whether or not these will be dealbreakers depends on your needs.

But, for $400 (or even less) I don't think you'll find an Android tablet that can beat this. Performance wise it runs circles around Lenovo's offerings (P11 Pro, P12) and OP actually does update its software, it's faster than the Pixel Tablet and comes with a keyboard case (imo far more useful than a semi-smart dock). It is not yet the most polished Android tablet experience but as a companion device it should be a good middle ground between the more expensive Samsung tablets and the cheaper offerings from Amazon and Lenovo.

Fwiw, I've now got a Galaxy Tab S9+, and it's definitely a better machine and tablet experience (especially in multitasking), but it also cost me twice as much. It's really good, but I struggle to say it's worth twice the price of this.

-No, not any more weird than on other Android tablets. Some apps won't display in landscape, but multitasking can help to make this less of an issue. The 7:5 aspect ratio is closer to the iPad's, makes portrait use much better than the typical 16:10 of other Android tablets.

-Processor is close to the S8 (Snapdragon 8 Gen 1). The Dimensity 9000 isn't quite there, but it benchmarks close.

-OxygenOS is OnePlus's skin of Android (like with Samsung you get One UI). Unlike Samsung, it doesn't have its own store or come with a bunch of duplicate apps installed. Comes with Google Play.

Ok. The Lenovo tablet itself felt like it was made with decent materials, however everything felt sluggish, although I stripped it to the bare OS and even tried loading another launcher. The battery life wasn't the best in the world, although it was supposed to be "the best"; had better battery life out of an iPad and Galaxy Tab S. The size of the tablet didn't feel as comfortable as other large format tablets (iPad Pro 12.9", Galaxy Tab SX+, etc). The keyboard felt absolutely terrible and uncomfortable, then I could never get the freaking pen to work (trust me, I tried everything).

On the other hand, I got my OnePlus tab and the battery is fantastic, the keyboard feels just as good as a Galaxy Tab S (not quite as good an iPad Pro keyboard, but still really good), the OS is slim, super responsive, and the tablet lasts me for several heavy use days. If I have to complain about anything, it's the placement of the camera on the back, but heck, I've even gotten used to it. I haven't been able to get my hands on the pen yet, but I've heard good things about it.

Hope that helps!

I would suggest against the Lenovo P12; it was very disappointing. The OnePlus tab is really nice.

Why disappointing? I got one for that special price, I would have got op instead if the price was close. But for $126 I wouldn't. Would wait if the price comes down

I'm looking for tablet with GSM capability that doesn't break the bank
Currently have S7 5G and happy with it.
Not sure if there is any better one available for "S7 5G (trade in) + $300"

The back of it looks like an Asus Eee Pad Transformer from 2011. Not a fan of how it looks

I still have my ASUS TF201. It still turns on.

If it lasts as long, I'd be pleased

I have no first hand experience with this tablet, but I have seen numerous very favorable reviews, and with the extras that come with this I think you'd be hard pressed to find/do better. Like others in the comments have said, I would also steer clear of Lenovo. The build quality is good, but they have to be the absolute worst/laziest manufacturer in the business. Last Christmas my dad got my wife and daughter each a Lenovo Tab P11. 2 or 3 updates in and Lenovo broke the Widevine level from level 1 down to 3 on the tablets so that they would only display an HD image on YouTube. Any regular streaming app was SD only. What good is a fantastic display and decent speakers if you're relegated to crappy streamed image quality? It soured my perception of Lenovo. You can find numerous accounts of people having issues with all models of Lenovo tablets. I want to like them, but I definitely don't trust them.

Buy this, or find yourself a used Tab S7 or Tab S8 and you'll be much better off than going the Lenovo route.

Tab s7 plus still is great. You will be disappointed if switching to this
Switching, yeah probably, I doubt it's that much of an improvement.

But if you're deciding between the two for a new purchase, I think there's more to consider: OnePlus Pad will get Android updates for a few years, and processor-wise it's trading blows with the S8. However, I do think Samsung's tablet software is overall better (though I haven't tried out the S7, so idk if it has all the features that the S9 line does), though if OnePlus brings over some of their multitasking feautres from the Open (which they're rumored to), it could be more even. Samsung has the better pen experience though, and I'm a much bigger fan of OLED screens over LCD now.

I don't think that "comparison" site really did a good job here. The Dimensity 9000 in the OP Pad gets much higher benchmarks than the 7050 in the P12 (more than 2x). The Pad is more aimed at the Tab S8 line of performance. It does have a (limited) 144Hz panel, and battery life on the Pad is really good (reviews suggest average at best for the P12) along with 67W charging. Budget dictates everything, of course, but unless your needs are basic, I think it's worth paying about a third more for a significant jump up in performance even just to make sure it's useful for longer, and that's before you get into Lenovo's reputation for Android software updates.
