Requires AT&T service and phone payment plan. You may want to include that in your title.

What you did in Walmart was to purchase the phone from Walmart with a Verizon plan with 36 months installment. You paid tax of the phone in store only. The activation fee will be charged to your next verizon bill.

Did you ask if you could trade in older phone in the store too?
Thank you

I did not ask about trade in. It was chaos. It literally took 2 hours to finish the process between the wireless guy being diverted helping other people, computer delays, extra verification steps required from Verizon, etc.

If you have an old phone to be traded in, are you planning to go to a Verizon corporate store to see if Verizon can let you hop into this Walmart deal to give you promotional credit toward you trade in phone?

Verizon must have your Walmart contract first before doing any trade in. You can go to your Verizon account, look at Bill, then documentation to see if the new contract is there. The document has to have a contract number, not just an order numbe.

Not doing a trade in

The contract is already there

When I call and try to payoff with 611 it says I owe $1199 on device. When I say to go ahead with payment I get a text link to pay. That says I cannot pay before Dec 22.
If I call 800-837-4966 from a different phone, it also states there isn't a device that can be paid off BUT it does offer to accept a payment of any size of my choosing. Anyone know if I enter $1199 will that be properly applied to device balance when I chat to cancel?

Does it even matter if the payment is marked by Verizon's system as being specifically for the device payoff?

for ATT, it start from the day you activate the phone. couple weeks ago when i try on Iphoen 13. I bought on Nov 8. received on Nov 13 and still within 3 days of cancelation. the CS rep told me it starts from the time you activate the phone. But some people told me it start from the day they ship you the phone. Probably because the phone is now using eSim so they may active before ship it to you. but again, ATT customer service is notorious for giving false information.i talk to around 15 CS rep and each one give me a different answer and even manager doesnt know there oilicy well enough, thats why some of the rep doesnt know and end up bending the rule.
How long did you wait between paying off your phone and requesting unlock from the AT&T portal? The benefit of paying off early (when shipped) is it will for sure show as paid off in the AT&T system. If I can delay activation to received date I'll just pay off the phone once I'm sure it will be delivered same day.

Just wanted to add that my iPhone 13 was supposed to arrive on Sunday, and it was delayed to Monday. I am afraid this will happen to me again, but with AT&T (possibly 4 days into service).

You should ask for waiving the activation fee: Per Verizon policy: "You will remain responsible for your Activation Fee unless you terminate service within three days of activation."
https://www.verizon.com/support/r...ion%20date.

I was able to cancel without any problem, and I also emphasized that I wanted to cancel with three days to avoid the activation fee
Did you cancel after paying off the device?

Do you need the phone unlock before 60days? If you do you need to talk to a Verizon rep. This is the only risk of paying it off early. As long as Verizon has the contract from Walmart, Verizon can unlock it but not sure if before or after 60 days

I don't need it before 60 days. Just want to have line cancelled asap (under 3 days) to get activation fee credited and minimal prorated plan fee.

Have to decide whether to do a "manually entered" payment today or wait til tomorrow morning and see if the system lets me directly pay off device tomorrow.

Just pay off using the automated Verizon system, 800-922-0204 and say "pay off device." You need to add a payment method in your verizon account (from web or app) first.
