man i haven't seen weights this cheap since before covid. used to see the dick's set go for like $188 back in the day all the time. this is a fantastic price.

Fellow Floridian, and hobby metal worker. A simple coat of paint will prevent rust, and any rust on the plates will be cosmetic, you can remove with steel wool if you care. I have weights in the garage and out in the rain, it would take many years or decades even for structural problems from rust to happen to the plates. It's your bars and benches etc you want to keep an eye on and make sure load-bearing structures are not rusting through. Wouldn't worry about plates.

I think that depends a lot on whether you plan on doing any heavy olympic lifting. If you're using a squat rack and/or bench for these weights, this set makes more sense financially. If you plan on doing power cleans, snatches, overhead squats, etc, you'll want bumper plates in case you drop the bar while lifting.

Depends on what you are looking for, but this rack & bench on sale at Walmart are good for the price. You will have to spend more than twice that to get a better quality rack & bench new (unless you don't mind buying used from CL or FB).
