Was a huge skeptic about this thing and we did not plan on getting one, but we did, and I am absolute believer.

For anyone who doesn't know how it works. There is a microphone in it and depending on how loud the noise your baby makes is, it will respond by rocking at different speeds and playing varying levels of white noise to calm the baby down. It's actually incredible how quickly it responds and then goes back to a gentle or no rocking as soon as the baby calms down. There were countless nights when without it we would have had to get up and calm the baby down, but this thing did it instead. Ended up getting much more sleep over the 5ish months we used it.

I think we bought ours for around this much and sold it for 900 maybe. If you buy one in good condition used and don't destroy it, you will most likely be able to get all or most of your money back.

We plan on getting another one if whenever we have another kid.

If you end up having another baby, they're really not supposed to be sleeping through the night for the first several days at the very least. You're supposed to wake them up at least every 3 hours to feed them.

Oh, and congrats on the baby! Mine turns 1 week old tomorrow.

We just rented ours through a local dealer. It worked fairly well to keep baby asleep longer but didn't do well at putting baby back to sleep once they stirred.

Also, our baby is large and grew out of this thing quick.

Keep in mind you will need special sleep sacks to work with this thing. your average (cheaper) swaddle isn't compatible. The SNOO requires special swaddles with extra clips.

We rented our Snoo are were big fans. I can remember laying in bed exhausted, hearing our baby get fussy and just cranking up the rocking intensity on my phone...Also, knowing your baby is safe in the swaddle is comforting as a new parent.
At 3 months our son started to work an arm out of the swaddle and by 4 months we sent the Snoo back as he was ready for his crib.

I modified my Mamaroo so it would rotate flat. Baby fell asleep in that for 30-45 min, then transferred to the crib in a swaddle. Played womb sounds through a subwoofer and baby slept through night at an early age. Think listening under water, that is what is comfortable to babies, they only need low frequency sounds.

Never needed a bassinet, and never had to deal with sleep training or transitioning to crib.

Pretty sure this deserves a huge YMMV flag. What works for one kid doesn't automatically mean it works for another.

Either that, or I'm missing an implied /s on this post.
I should've included a disclaimer in my comment that my baby represents every human on earth. My testimonial applies to all future and historic persons living and dead, adult and child, even you.

Does that help? I know you might not be familiar with the idea of a product review, but some things need to be spelled out to people. Smilie

Some of these comments really scare me, newborns should not be sleeping through the night! For the first several months babies need to be woken up every ~3 hours or so to eat. They typically are not recommended to go a whole night without at least 1 feeding until 3-4 months.

While this device may be great if your baby has trouble sleeping in those windows, if you are using it for a hack to avoid being a parent you should not be raising children.
Meh. My daughter is 35. She slept 6 hrs by 2 weeks old. No fancy basinette. She was totally fine and healthy.
My son, on the other hand, I would have loved one of these. Horrible sleeper. Lack of sleep really destroyed me.

They have a "used" one on sale sometimes.. We got ours for under $900 straight from Happiest Baby and there was no way to tell it was used. Everything was in original box as if buying new. Also it very much worth it.

BF Skinner would blush at the price.

Or am I confusing them with something in Brave New World?

Fwfw, afaik, there is zero science on the *long term* effects on the baby / child / teen / adult. None. But sure. Go ahead. You didn't need that healthy well adjusted offspring anyway.

Let me give a couple tips, we had two kids and used a snoo with both.

One kid loved it and the other hated it. Our 2nd would not get used to it, so we bought something else. Nothing we could do. For the one that loved it, it was a godsend.

Dont buy new or rent it. Buy a used on from marketplace and resell when youre done. It cost us $0 for the snoo for both kids. We actually bought it used, sold it to a woman, then bought it back form her when she was done because we had #2 15 months later (oops).

Its a very nice bassinet, bit theres no way to predict if your kid will like it or not. If you buy used theres basically no risk.

this is wild, your baby should not be sleeping more than 3 hours at a time during those first three months.

We didn't get this due to some cons that may or may not have been mentioned…

1) newborns do need to be fed every 3 hours and shouldn't be sleeping through the night

2) babies can become dependent on this and then you have to rent one when traveling.

3) it's easy to put babies in this for long stretches and then they're constantly laying flat, causing them to have flat heads and sometimes possibly requiring a helmet.

PSA - belly time, belly time, belly time! Just not when they're sleeping…
