I've somehow managed to keep my subscription free since it launched. I thought they finally caught on to me last time and said I was no longer eligible (2nd Best Buy code attempt), but a new LG TV got me another 3 months. The trick is not to try if you are currently subscribed. Cancel auto renew, let it expire and then try the next day.
EDIT: you can get a free 3 month code from Best Buy and sit on the code until your current subscription ends. If you try to redeem through a device or app, make sure you aren't already logged into your ATV+ account when you click redeem. It will process the free trial and then ask what account you want to use it on.

Signed up through AMZ, had app sent to a Fire TV Omni, but my Firesticks on the same account don't register my access? What the actual hell? It's almost impossible to figure out where you modify your subscription inside Amazon. "Appstore Subscriptions" not the same as other subscriptions and digital content. Requires you to click down through all that and locate the "management" options at the app level. Incredibly non-user friendly. I finally got it set to non-renew but this is ridiculous.

Just a heads up that the Apple TV app seems to only work correctly on certain Fire TV devices.

- Fire TV gen 2 (box), Fire OS 5.2.9.5: Does NOT work. Apple TV app installs but does not work. When I start the app, it says a software update is needed, and instructs me to go install the latest Fire TV software. There is no newer software available.

- Fire TV Cube gen 2, Fire OS 7.6.6.4: Does NOT work. App installs and runs, but I can't sign in to my Apple account. When I select the Sign In option, it goes to grey screen with a loading indicator and sits there forever.

- Fire TV Stick gen 3 (2020), Fire OS 7.6.6.4: App installs and works as expected. Once I signed into my Apple account using the same email as my Amazon account, then it recognized the trial subscription and activated it for my Apple ID.

After activating the trial subscription on the Fire TV stick, then I was also able to sign in on a Google TV device using the same Apple ID, and the subscription was active there too.
