In case there are any fellow Lefties looking at this:

I have been trying out the Remarkable 2 for a week or so, and also bought the Scribe last night to compare. So far, while the Remarkable 2 is more polished, feels higher-end, etc., the Scribe is winning by a large margin for me for one simple reason: it works for left-handed people in a way the RM2 does not. The RM2 does not rotate when you turn the screen upside down (the top and bottom bezels are not even so I get this), which means you hold it by the thin edge vs. the side bezel for right-handed users. I could get used to that, but the main problem I have is that the Close/X button is in the top left corner and I am constantly hitting it with my palm and closing out of documents. They both have generous return periods so will continue to try them both, but so far I love the Scribe, esp for the price after the trade-in.
I am really liking this Kindle Scribe for note taking. Got a "used" one in "acceptable" condition, but the one they sent was the refurbished version and looked brand new. Can't beat that for $170+ tax I paid. Also purchased a Remarkable 2 to compare. RM2 is much more sleek looking and has a nice leather case (I haven't found a Scribe case that is this slim) and has a tad bit better writing experience, but the backlit display on Scribe, how fast it responds, and futureproofing potential (Scribe came in 2022 vs RM2 from 2000 with Scribe having much better hardware) combined with Scribe having more functionality makes me want to keep Scribe and return/sell my RM2.
Scribe's bigger and heavier, and the Paperwhite is right around a size/weight sweet spot so it is still manageable one-handed especially reading in bed or in transit. The Scribe will be a lot harder or tiring to use one-handed or lifted off a table, a case with a rear hand strap can help with holding but the weight can still be limiting. The advantage to the Scribe is you can elect to use two-column ebook layout so it reads more like a paper book w/ facing pages without sacrificing font size, or you can increase font size more. And the Scribe will be better at PDFs and non-reflowing formats than the Paperwhite b/c of the larger screen. Neither one are all that great at PDF though, but the Scribe at least can do it in a pinch.

This trade discount is poorly executed. Mine says I won't get the discount until they inspect it. When's that? That's dumb and confusing.

FYI I did talk to customer service and they refunded me 20%. Pretty sweet deal with that plus $40 off a two pack.

Is the Scribe still unable to export to OneDrive?

Apparently not. Export is by email only. So weird and disappointing.

Take note that you cannot have the 3 months kindle unlimited added if you want to use the trade-in discount

It may have gotten lost in the thread, but I noted that I did the 20% off trade in and when I powered on my Scribe, I was welcomed with the same 3 months of Kindle Unlimited for free offer.

And for whatever it's worth for those still thinking about it, I'm really loving the experience with my Scribe. Going from a Paperwhite to this has made reading a much more enjoyable experience. Screen size definitely helps, but I love highlighting and jotting down notes directly on the book I'm reading.

I sent myself a daily planner PDF from laptop to "send to kindle" and it works so well for that and journaling.

I remember hearing that the notes you take in books don't get stored anywhere and I thought that was lame, but it's not 100% true.

When I make a highlight, I will check the Kindle app on my phone to either send to people or to get a quote for a social media post type of thing. When I went to check it, there are all my highlights along with my sticky notes attached to them. It does remind me of pulling out a physical book and skimming through the pages to find what I highlighted and wrote in it.

This thing is a winner for me.

i got an instant rebate of 20% when i selected trade in. But i don't see how i can print a label anywhere in my order. Should i still send my old kindle? will it be ok if i don't send it as i already got the 20% rebate while purchasing?

Thanks

Here we go again. I'm not getting the 20% automatically, I have to ship it in and then they will give me the $50 and 20% coupon.

Just in time for BF pricing to be over.

Edit, wait, am I wrong? Does the 20% coupon process as a refund for the price paid for the Kindle Scribe? Like a 20% refund once my Oasis meets the trade in criteria? Or we will email you a 20% code that you can then use on a new order for a Kindle? These are very different circumstances.

It seems weird that they have it set up to delay the 20% coupon that 100% will arrive after the sale is over. I have the BF 16-gig one in my cart and I'm actually not going to purchase it because that's some bullsheet. Maybe I'll chat and beg?

I didn't get the 20% discount automatically, although the email from Amazon said that I could get it right away for a new kindle device and it would be applied automatically.
I am calling Amazon CS now to get the refund from the discount, have been on the phone for 40 minutes and transferred from one person to another. it seems nobody in Amazon knows what to do.
Still on the phone with them now.
extremely frustrating!!!

Update: the CS person in the Kindle department told me they cannot process a refund as the device hasn't been delivered yet. They created a follow-up on their end. Once it's delivered, they will issue a refund.
I told him I wouldn't have the time to waste on this, if I don't receive the refund as they promised, I will file a claim with my credit card to get the money back.

It's not worth it. You are much more likely to get your entire account banned if you do a chargeback. Keep escalating the issue and only do a chargeback if you have no other recourse.

Not true at all. I got the instant 20% instant trade-in discount, along with the 3 months of Kindle Unlimited, and I only needed to trade in my Amazon Fire Stick and not my Kindle.

That is your experience. I will just share mine for clarification:
I got the trade-in gift card and discount promotion added to my account within 15 minutes after dropping off my old Kindle at Whole Foods. During check out of a new Kindle Scribe, the trade-in discount is not applied if "Offer Type: With 3 Months Free Kindle Unlimited" is selected when adding the item to the cart (non-prime account). Eventually I still get 3 months free kind unlimited offer during device setup after receiving the package.

170$ is a steal, I just checked and didn't found any used units for that price unfortunately

For the version with the 3 months included, I see "You can purchase this item directly on our website". I'm on the Amazon app, so I'm confused?
