990 pro is faster in productivity and can be encrypted, but the WD is faster in game loading, game asset loading, etc. I am using mine for gaming and so don't care about encryption (because that would slow things down and I don't need to encrypt for non-critical gaming data). Most users would never notice a difference between these drives in real world usage.

I remember buying an SN850 non x 1TB for $230 and that was a good price. Just bought several 2TB for under $100 as I couldn't pass them up.

I know I don't care about the speed, personally. Just wonder if it's really $50 more reliable.
