T7 is way better.

I have both and the Crucial slows down a lot which larger files or larger amounts of data transfers... Like sppeds around or below 100MB/s... Only getting close to advertised speeds for small files and small total data transfers.

T7 stays fast all the time.

How does this compare to the Samsung T7? It looks like the Crucial X9 1TB is also on sale for $59.99. Is it better than the X8?

Crucial X9 Pro Review: Smaller, Tougher, but Not Quicker

https://www.techadvisor.com/artic...eview.html

If you care about having a physically tougher device with hardware encryption, go with the X9.

If not, go with X8

The NAND type is different.
Crucial uses 3D TLC NAND and Samsung uses V-NAND.

V-NAND has a faster write speed over longer write sessions (larger files).

FYI, the "Crucial X6 4TB Portable SSD - Up to 800MB/s" is $149.99. Speed is lower than other SSDs, but price is also lower.

These are great for PS5 and Xbox Series, for backward compatible games. If a lot of your gaming is stuff from the previous generation, this buys you a lot of space for a little money.

If you were to carry one around in your pocket, which would you prefer?

I have an x8 and was about to pickup a T7, but wish it were smaller. But I'm also only looking online. Haven't physically seen one.

I have the rugged T7 (with a rubberized coating) and with my estimation:

Crucial is heavier (noticeable)
Crucial is about a 1" longer, but .25" less wide
About the same thickness.

If anyone shed some lights.. i just need a SSD for my storage , as My MacBook Pro has only 256 .. and because of video lectures from my School, i need to buy one .. T7 offer from COSTCO Vs THIS ONE - which one is a better deal regarding quality wise? Will these SSDs last 5-10 years??

Thanks. Just bought a 2TB Samsung for ~$119 the other day and was having a bit of buyer's remorse until I saw your feedback. Thanks. Repped you both.

I bought this last month for the same price for use with my Mac Studio. Formatted it to APFS since I'm not going to use it on a PC. For my use case it's plenty fast and works just fine for the price.

I bought this last time it was on sale for the same price (about a month ago). I can confirm what's been mentioned: T7 (Samsung's model) writes fast all the time, whereas This Crucial slows down due to the cache filling up. Both feel sturdy and well built, imo. I actually prefer the Crucial form factor, though the write speed may turn some off. X9 and X10 are faster, but only if you have the rig to achieve those speeds (think 5g phone in a rural area with no 5g coverage). At this price, you can't go wrong for a portable little 2gb SSD

If someone were looking for external SSD for video editing projects, what would you recommend instead of this, for a similar price point if possible?
