Also this is a better deal than the older gen that was front page last week - 7640HS vs 7735HS - 4nm vs 6nm - better graphics Zen4 vs Zen 3+, higher clock AMD Radeon 760M vs 680M

https://slickdeals.net/f/17048218-minisforum-um773-lite-barebone-pc-ryzen-7-7735hs-radeon-680m-311-90-free-shipping

Much better mini pc with better ports etc.

No PC knowledge here. Is this good for a 10 year old who wants to play Fortnite, Minecraft and Roblox? Trying to get a PC and keep it relatively under $500

I've only ever had to pay taxes when buying direct from Minisforum.
Thanks for the reply, much appreciated. The $30 off is gone, maybe because it became FP. LMAO

Seems to be expired - the $389 price is now for barebones, whereas adding RAM and SSD increases the price significantly.

This FP post seems misleading. I remember this thread a few days ago being a barebones deal at that price, and now I see the FP post including RAM, hard drive, and Win11 at the same price.

I have the UM790 Pro running Windows 10 and it has an annoying problem when playing video inside my browser. If I manipulate (drag, resize..) a different window, it will cause the video in the browser to crash. Minisforum replaced my first unit but the problem persists. If I install the copy of Windows 11 from Minisforum, which has all the drivers built in, the problem is resolved. If I install the free Windows 11 upgrade from Windows 10, the problem remains there. Seems like a driver problem but I've messed with those for days to no avail. Other than that, it's incredibly fast, quiet, and small.

If you go with the bare bones option, I'd suggest avoiding the RAID setup (problematic) and go with a small SSD drive for your OS and programs and as big as you can afford for your data drive.

I was about to bite on this deal... but, it looks like you're right. If you get the RAM/SSD, using the coupon code, it is $509.

I got one of these last year with the 6900Hx. I added a 2TB SSD and 64GB ram. Thing rules.

To a degree, yes. Keep expectations in check, Fortnite will be the most difficult to drive, and the PC may only be just capable of 1080p @ 60fps at medium/low mix of settings. Fortnite and Roblox will play fine.

A 760M with no RAM or SSD is not slick for $350.

Any suggestions on replacements since both the memory and the SSD are out of stock?

I wanted an i5 processor & not looking for any heavy GPU activity. I also had inputs from a friend who works for Intel. He preferred i5 12th Gen over AMD Ryzen. i5 processors have more computing workflows than AMD Ryzen. The difference is greater in the peripherals like motherboard, etc. I'm not an expert in designing processors, so I'm not able to articulate properly.

Each platform has it's strength and weaknesses. AMD is more power efficient, has stronger iGPU and Intel has better transcoding, Thunderbolt 3 & 4 and overall wider industry adoption.

Is the deal expired? I'm seeing a different price:
1
Venus UM790 Pro/UM760 Pro
AMD Ryzenā„¢ 5 7640HS(UM760 Pro) / 32GB RAM+1TB SSD / US
UM760-SAVE30 (-$30.00)

x
$539.00
$509.00
UM760-SAVE30
Cost summary
Subtotal
$509.00

Calculated at next step
Total
USD$509.00

I'm guessing at this price it's no longer that great of a deal? Was looking for something like this but sub 500 total. I'll wait till the next year Black Friday/Cyber Monday deal then lol.
