Funny, no one's mentioned that these printers can be used totally on a local network without connecting to their cloud at all.

The only thing I disagree with is their impact on 3d printing community is actually very positive.

3d printer designs have been stagnant for 3-4 years, they brought some good competition to market (think tesla).
You don't have to like it, or support them, but without them I doubt you'd see so many competing coreXY klipper based machines out there.

There are other uses for the AMS.
1) Dry box for open spools.
2) Keep an extra spool of the same color filament and have it automagically use the next same color spool for long prints.
3) Multicolor by layers. It minimizes waste and you don't have to manually switch colors at layers.

It's $950 out the door at Microcenter and $950 after shipping and taxes on bambu's site. Either way you're paying the exact same. If MC won't price match to get the sale, saving me $50 then I'll tell them to have a nice day and that I'm spending my money directly to the company that actually made the device. Then proceed to turn around and walk out of their store..

I understand that we're not talking about the same $50 here... Mine was more of a general comment rather than a reply, my bad.
I personally support Micro Center any time it makes even the slightest bit of sense to do so. When so many brick and mortar stores have vanished, making it impossible to find a thing you need that very day, it's good to keep the ones you like in business.

To follow up on this, my MC in Dallas was more than happy to price match. Finally joined the bambu club, woot woot.

Nice! I just got mine setup this weekend. Great results so far. I still need to learn Bambu studio better, but the reports of being plug and play hold true to this point.

Give them time to steal PRUSA's new system they developed for the MK4 with MMU3 that wastes almost no filament in color changes. It's what Bambu labs does - steal and spy.
What do you do, work for PRUSA? "Stealing" is good for the consumer. The more you see similar features across offering by different companies, the more options you'll have as a consumer.

No, but it usually carries a reciprocity requirement.

Using open source than locking down derivatives as proprietary is frowned upon and against klipper, marlin, and other open source licenses.

Copyleft also requires attribution, disclaims warranties, and grants the rights to modify and distribute. The difference is that copyleft demands reciprocity. Any derivative works must be distributed with the source code under a copyleft license.

This is a child-like assessment of the world. Companies that take without giving themselves are a dead-end. If it's allowed to continue, there eventually is only takers in a segment and the innovation dies because the innovators leave or can't afford to stay. Bambu is a parasite.

I own this setup and it's amazing. It really just works right out of the box.

Please note that the P1S comes with the textured build plate. IMO, it's the best build plate that needs no prep (no glue, tape, etc) to use. PLA sticks very well to it.

I think you the fact that you can't update it without connecting to the internet even when using lan mode, is what people have gripes with. Anytime you connect, the printer can transmit data back. The privacy policy is also worrisome.

That being said, I will probably still buy one. But I'm a hobbyist. I don't like the privacy policy but I likely won't be prototyping products or anything where I am concerned about IP being stolen.

Rebranding an existing open source product as your own with no attribution and telling users not to use the actual open source product you stole is theft, yeah. They've been caught doing that. They're bad for the 3D printing community, and a blatant vessel for China spying.

Yep and simplify. I've used many printers and the Bambu products have "just worked" better than any others.

I'm sure my data is in China somewhere but frankly I don't really care if they know about the dumb stuff I print.
