Funny, no one's mentioned that these printers can be used totally on a local network without connecting to their cloud at all.

The only thing I disagree with is their impact on 3d printing community is actually very positive.

3d printer designs have been stagnant for 3-4 years, they brought some good competition to market (think tesla).
You don't have to like it, or support them, but without them I doubt you'd see so many competing coreXY klipper based machines out there.

There are other uses for the AMS.
1) Dry box for open spools.
2) Keep an extra spool of the same color filament and have it automagically use the next same color spool for long prints.
3) Multicolor by layers. It minimizes waste and you don't have to manually switch colors at layers.

I agree that waking up the community (and, let's be honest, PRUSA, who have coasted on their great product for 4 years) by putting together a bunch of disparate tech in one reasonably priced box was important for the community as a whole. Competition is GOOD. So as a one-time thing, I can say that had a positive effect. But Bambu's business model of stealing, rebranding open source, badmouthing the open source products they actually copied and rebranded as theirs, not reciprocating and spying is VERY BAD for the segment, long term.

Thanks for your comments. I'm looking into 3d printing for fun. What would you recommend that is as easy to use as supposedly Bambu is? Thanks in advance.

On Bambu you get 2 free filament (while supplies last) - 2 Free spools of PLA filaments(1*Silk and 1*Tough)
the free filament thing is scam. i ordered when it was in stock. my invoice says so. i got two .25kg of basic pla rolls, which is not what i expected.

not a good start with this company.

I ordered it the other day. The filament shipped but the printer is still just at the point of having a label. I guess I'll just keep waiting and see what they decide to give me

i the rolls i got were in the printer box itself (2 basic pla and one small roll for the interface material). -- not sure if the 2 basic pla are the actual 'free' ones that they advertised. -- or if it normally comes with the printer.

I had ordered a few accessories along, which is on the say, but on the website, does not show it has any filaments in it. will get it tomorrow.

Iirc The x1 printers come with 3 rolls of 250g if bought normally. P1s may come with less.

Just reach out, some have mentioned getting it shipped separately.

I ordered a P1S with the free filament and I have two shipping numbers. One is 6.1lbs, so I'm assuming that they are sending the two rolls of filament separate from the printer.

Give them time to steal PRUSA's new system they developed for the MK4 with MMU3 that wastes almost no filament in color changes. It's what Bambu labs does - steal and spy.
Congrats, you seem to understand how all technology works. For all industries, since the beginning of time

Oof. I've been waiting for a sale.

Idk if I should at this price. Is this the historic low?
No

They were giving away additional spools of filament on top of this last week

A> Hope you enjoy your printer with zero updates. And if you connect to get updates (required), the stored data it collected from your machine and local network since the last connection to the internet goes to China. Oops.

B> You're still supporting a company that steals, ignores open source terms of use, and rebrands stolen code as their own. It's a bad look and unhealthy for the whole segment of hobby printing.

Bambu Labs is bad. Period. And they have no indications of changing.
Oh no!

China is going to to get my super secret Pikachu file!
