I would never buy a console with an expensive digital download where I can't get the bits off. Physical copy or no deal, I'll just pay full price for the console.

So then this deal is not for you. Why bother commenting?

Because it's a public deal forum, and I'd like to support others like me who don't consider nontransferrable bits an enticing addon to an actual deal.

Extra controller? Fine. Switches go on sale cheaper often enough that a download you can't sell is almost like saying the free teaspoon of sugar in your coffee should make it more valuable.

To add, the new nintendo system should be out next year and Nintendo should be clearing out Switch inventory. Anything more than 299 for black Friday is ridiculous, as it was that price last year.

I would even argue that $299 is too much. ALL of the other consoles are dropping in price.

THANK YOU. I'm getting blown up in this thread, but all anyone needs to do is Google Switch prices from last year, the totally realistic gossip about a new one q3/4 next year, and use basic reasoning to understand that this is not a deal.

Pretty sure that was the old base model, not OLED.

I'll have to do forensic research, but I was in the market for OLED last year and I'm not in the habit of comparing apples to oranges.
I'm fairly certain Nintendo has never offered the OLED model at $300. They like to do bundles like this one in lieu of any price drop.

$350 has always been the official Nintendo Switch OLED price. Lower prices have taken advantage of foreign exchange rates. Consoles purchased outside of the US are not covered under warranty in the US. You are getting limited edition Joy Cons that haven't been made in a long time and a solid game for full price. If you don't like Smash Brothers maybe it's not a deal for you. But say you already have joy cons, these are currently selling for $100+ in new condition, making this so much better than the standard OLED at the same price.

So it wasn't $300 even, but it was more a year ago with no particular sales holiday, and it wasn't the Japanese version. So I think the difference between $306 / $309 in fall 2022 and the near certain belief that a new Nintendo console is slated for holiday season 2024 is a pretty good indicator that we'll see $299 this year.
That was an imported version from the United Kingdom, probably because they were overstocked and also did not come with the correct power adapter for this country. You claimed that you aren't in the habit of comparing apples to oranges but this is exactly that.

edit: And yes, you may be able to find a non-bundle one cheaper now if you look around but the discussion was about what was run last year. Trying to move the goal posts doesn't mean that your original statement was not factually incorrect.

Why is this being downvoted? It is actually good advice.

I absolutely HATE physical, but for a Switch, physical is the way to go. You can resell or trade it in the future once you're truly done with a game.

Shame on Nintendo for trying to nickel and dime their customers. Digital should be cheaper.
