Just (re)subscribed after a gap due to not being able to find a good deal. To me the best part of the magazine is the high quality of their articles -- short but on point. World news with analysis is in a one thin issue. It offers great perspectives into matters into countries that I know almost nothing about -- Brazil, Turkey, Niger etc and helps you reflect on what's happening in the US. Their coverage of China is very precise and nuanced, not like some of the media that shouts nothing but "China bad". I don't agree with a lot of their analysis, but the magazine is extremely informative and helps me form my own understanding of the events.

The same can be said about their "The Intelligence" podcast show which is the only thing I listen to when I have limited time for podcasts. They typically feature 3 stories per day with their analysis in a ~20 minutes episode and contain enough information you need to know. They often feature culture topics/obituaries. By comparison, nytimes "The Daily" and wsj "The Journal" features one story per day and feels a bit long. Their other shows are also great, although a bit more extended and conversational. (And I haven't listened to shows like Planet Money for a long time because they used to stretch a 7 min episode into 20 min that is filled with meaningless and awkward conversations and 2-minute-long ads.)

i often disagree with their views, but it's probably worth it for pure reporting contents... should i get three years for 100 per year or wait for it every year?

Anybody understand why an Economist 2-year digital only subscription is $199, but a 2-year digital + print is only $179? All of the other magazine options for multiple years are same multiples of the first year cost. i.e. Why isn't The Economist 1-year digital, $59; 2-year, $119; 3-year, $179. No response from DiscountMags customer support. The digital + Print Economist is currently $89.99 for 1 year, or $179.99 for 2 years.

they have something called "Discount Lock" which keeps your subscription at/near what you originally paid year to year. see https://www.discountmags.com/disc...k_benefits for details.

My subscription from a previous year just renewed like this.

Many libraries have access to the economist online for free, granted the format is not as nice as the official economist app and doesn't have the audio component. But its completely free. Check your local library for their online magazine options

Yes. It's called behavioral economics. Dan Ariely had a course about it on Coursera before. See if you can find his book "predictably irrational" on the Libby app using your public library account. Great explanation about our flawed human perceptions that marketers exploit. There are many other popular researchers in this field with books as well.

Makes you feel like you are getting a better deal getting both and they can likely claim higher print subscription numbers, helping with their ad prices, but I am guessing here. In any case it's about getting you to pick the desired outcome and feel good about the perceived value.

Did resubscribe as well. For me their technology quarterly was almost like a mini MIT Technology Review Magazine. Always learned about some new tech I did not hear about before or what's happening in the labs.
In general, even if you only read a little every week you will know much more about what's going on in the world. Complements the Marketplace podcast well. https://www.marketplace.org
Or pair it with the WSJ deal that's happening right now and you are well set and it gets you through the election next year. ;-)
