it's significantly better than the Quest 2. The display is much more clear due to the pancake lenses. Owned the 2 for years, and was always readjusting the headset to find the tiny sweet spot that was crystal clear. The Quest 3 is always clear across the entire field of view. I'd try to get one at a discount instead of going for the 2.
i paid this same deal like 2 years ago for the quest 2, not really that good of a deal since the new one is out. I'd wait to see if you can score a deal on the 3 in a few days.
I LOVE the Quest 3 and I'm super happy I upgraded. But, for 1/2 the price the Quest 2 is OUTSTANDING. Even if on paper it's "twice the hardware", I'm not convinced it's twice the experience/fun.
For anyone looking to get into VR gaming, the Quest 2 is still very viable and a great device for $250.

Quest 3 is twice the hardware. I have a functioning Quest 2 and will probably donate it and jump on the first Q3 sale that comes up.
I own both.

Though it's tough reselling the quest 2 at a decent price. If only there was a trade in program
This. The reason why Quest 3 isn't selling well is that Quest 2 owners cannot resale their devices for half the original price so they can upgrade. There's just not enough interest in VR headsets to support a robust used market.
BTW, Anybody looking for a 256GB Quest 2 should go the used route as there are plenty available for sale on Swappa and FBMP that are in "like new" condition.

Great comment - you summed up "sweet spot" precisely. Aside from it, is it worth the upgrade? Does the screen appear less grainy in real life? More contrast?

I've been debating this. What's some fun things I can do on here? What is the longevity of this in terms of activities, entertainment, etc? Just don't wanna buy and it sit on a shelf after 2 days!
If you can afford it: The Quest 3 will have a longer lifespan and do everything the quest 2 does.. and much better. Faster CPU, better lenses, color pass-through/mixed reality.
With that said, if the $500+ is out of your range, this $250 ($200?) is still a GREAT price on a Quest 2 and it will have lots of life left. There is a very large game library still out there, and many of us who upgraded to a Quest 3 were still loving the Quest 2 right up until the launch.
The 128GB Is plenty if you just plan to install games or use it as PC-VR with SteamVR.
If you buy one - I recommend getting the "VRCover" facepiece and a new headstrap as the included ones are both pretty bad.
Lots of Quest games are on sale right now, so someone just jumping in will have a very good (and cheap) library. While you can find Quest 2's used for $100-130, I still recommend paying the extra for a new one. Considering how much people sweat in these or smack the controllers around.. I'd want a new one.
Lastly, I'd recommend picking up "Quest Games Optimizer" ($10 online) which installs onto the headset and lets you optimize games to get better resolution, textures, framerate, etc.. Especially for older games that were never optimized for the speed-boost Meta gave a while back.
If I had the money? I'd get the Quest 3. But my Quest 3 easily hit $1000 after accessories. For $200/250 for a Quest 2, it will get you very much a good experience still.
Does anyone know if half life Alyx runs good in the quest? Literally the only reason I want a vr headset and also for Tetris effect lol
Yes, I had no issues running Alyx on my quest 2. With that said - it will depend on your PC (since it will run fully on your PC and just stream it to the headset) and your network speed (not Internet speed).
If you're across the house from your PC and getting low signal, it won't work great. If you're in the same room as your router? Great!
I have a budget prebuilt PC and it ran Alyx fine on Q2

There's just as many or even more people who brought the Quest 2 for the novelty, played with it once or twice and then put it back in box. That's why I recommend going the used route especially for the 256GB model or it you are buying extra sets for young family members.
For most intents and purposes is still the same as a Facebook account.
They will still track you everywhere and feed ads to you. And I suppose if you call Zuck a lizard man or robot enough times they will disable your device and leave you with a paper weight.
