Always new customers. Port your number to google voice, use this new plan to create a throw away number and then forward all calls to that number from google voice. When the 3 minths are up, pop in a new sim, activate and get a new number and then change your forwarding number to that new number and done. Rinse and repeat. You will always be able to use these deals then as a new customer
I've been doing this for my family and I for years. Google voice has saved us thousands
There are a few cons, which I dont think are deal-breakers (I've had Google Voice for years now):

You need an Android phone for seamless experience. On iPhone you need to use the app to make call. This is usually not a huge problem, but it is a PITA especially if you also use Apple Car play (siri-assisted calls/sms goes through phone's primary number)
Some banks (the only one I have trouble with is Chase.. there maybe others) don't do OTPs with Google Voice number. I just use the actual SIM's number for that.
Because you keep switching your real number to take advantage of new-customer offers all the time (you dont have to, but you do if you want cheapest price), you get assigned random numbers that random people have used to register at all kinds of sites. This usually means lots of spam calls. If you have a Pixel phone (or some other spam call filter), this is easily dealt with, but you need to

I still have a google voice number, but these drawbacks now annoy me enough so google voice is no longer my primary. But if your priority is to save money , there is nothing like Google Voice and taking advantage of those new-customer MVNO deals (I've lost count of Mint/Boost/Redpocket deals I've taken advantage of).

I've had GoogleVoice for almost 15 years and besides GrooveIP back in 2010, I don't ever use an app. I call from the GV number directly from my phone's native dailer or text. Also, we've been doing the Mint deal on multiple phones for a few years and porting our same real number in and out. I've went into detail before on both of these methods and they have been around on SlickDeals for years.

The biggest thing about GV is that it's a VOIP number which many services don't accept as your phone number, so many times you won't be able to receive verification texts and such. So far I've rarely had that issue but when it happens it's annoying. I use my GV less and less since it sometimes pops up as a fraud alert. For example, I can't wire money transfers using a GV number, can't accept Zelle payments with that number, etc...

Target hasn't offered the +3 months deal. MintCS says it's exclusive via their website only this year.

Is this for existing customers too?

Consider I am stupid. Would you please elaborate how can I keep my existing phone number to work with GV, and add this and future Mint promotion? The phone number is using for years, so many things link to it now. I really don't want a new number. Thanks in advance.

Any one knows answer to this

It doesn't work for re-ffar-ls if you buy from Target or BB. I tried last year, but it didn't work.

  1. Get the Mint sim and get that activated. You get a new number XXX
  2. Sign up at Google voice, and port your current number NNN there.
  3. Google voice will ask you to provide the number to forward your calls to. Give XXX. They will verify through call or text.
  4. Install Google Voice on your phone and login with your google voice account.
  5. If you are using Android phone, go to the settings on Google Voice and configure it to route ALL calls through Google Voice. From that point even if you use your phone's standard dialer, it will automatically go through Google Voice.
  6. Everyone you call will see NNN.
  7. Everyone who calls at NNN will end up ringing your phone at XXX (of course, they dont see XXX).
  8. When the mint sim expires, get a new sim and number YYY. Reconfigure Google Voice to use YYY instead of XXX

If you are using iPhone, you cant route native dialer through Google Voice. You have to place the call using the Google Voice app. Incoming calls will still ring your phone at XXX.

Bought the unlimited plan for $60 plus $45 promotional gc end of Oct. Chatted just now with cs to get them to match the new $60 offer but refused. She offered $5, to which I said the difference is $15. She then offered $10, which I accepted. When I bought last Oct, there was also a 5% off Target Circle offer, so that was already $4.50. Then the 10% refund included the tax, so it's all good

Oh if you want to use it with GV that's easy. Just sign up for a new number instead of porting in with Mint. Then go in GV and add the new number as a number to forward your calls to.

If you have an iPhone and want to use GV without the app, I explain 3 different ways here. But basically, the easiest way is to just know the person's phone number how GV assigns it then add it to your contacts and dial as usual.

I ordered 2 x (3-Month 20GB/Month + $60 Target eGift Card, $75) as it seems to be the best bang for a buck plus whole bunch of toilet paper (Charmin mega strong, mega rolls, mega packs) that I always buy from them anyway. Got free shipping and some frequent flyer miles on my CC.
