Just say no. Don't give Zazlov the subscriber #s he so desperately needs. He is destroying the business.

I see most of these comments are about debating the deal. I'm just wondering if there's any blockbuster movies coming soon. I'm looking at current movies and they're all pretty bad.

Signed up for the $3/month deal after cancelling my ad-free plan last month.

The ads are TERRIBLE, though I was would be ok. i was fine with the three ads at the beginning of the movie, not so much when I was ~40 minutes and then got served two ads, ~20 mins later two more ads. It sucks. I would be fine with them front loading the movie with 10 ads if needed and make the movie ad-free.

I don't think HBO is worth paying anything. Adds are placed always in the most engaging scene, they are not equally spread throughout the movie. More and longer adds in the most intense moment. VERY annoying. I had it 6 months with adds upon introduction, then upgraded to add free. I had it for two years paying $15/month until the re-branding. Now it has been stripped from older content, because content owners have their own streaming services. Anything new is politically correct and not interesting in general. Disney is the same. Ad based Netflix the same. The non-add 4k Netflix has from time to time something, but honestly nothing worth paying $20 for. It does have enough older content and documentaries though. Paramount - once you finish MI movies nothing more to watch. STARZ is kinda OK because they try to add new content and they have SONY studios movies, but not worth paying longer than 4-5 months. Hulu has sporadically some staff to watch. Amazon Video - Prime at $150ish is not worth it for me, but I have Costco and other nearby retailers to choose from. After a decade of using Prime i stopped it. If it's student price, makes some sense. Full price - No sense. Usually same content as Netflix, Amazon original content is not so originally politically correct. Worthless stories, no plot.
The US streaming service above I had all on extreme discounts or free bundles. Even at $1-3 /month they are not worth it. Waste of time.
At this point I pay full price only for Discovery+ and a $10/month European TV stream service (which streams hundreds of TV channels btw including several dozen sports ). Netflix is worth if found on discount like the Verizon deal for ~ $5-6/month for the full 4K service.

HBO is slick, 6 months subscription, it will be over by the time their biggest show comes out at the end of the summer.

And this is why I'm not subscribing. Had Peacock for a few years and usually it's just a few minutes of ads at the beginning and you get a full ad free movie. Wouldn't care about ads if it was something like a sitcom, but too annoying breaking focus in the middle of a movie.

Just to add another data point, I went to cancel my $10 legacy ad plan and was offered this plan.

We just had a major writers and actors strike, so it will be slim pickings for awhile as Hollywood paused, for the most part.

I had hbomax through att fiber bundle for years and almost forgot it. If you have YouTube and Netflix there is almost no reason to have it

I've used Hulu and peacock with ads and it was tolerable. When i used HBOmax with ads, it was unbearable. Same 3 annoying ads over and over. Many unexpected interruptions. Like i want to sign up for this but only if it was more like peacock.
I haven't had HBO with ads (I have a legacy plan about to expire), but I absolutely hate the ads on Peacock. I bought 3 months for the NFL games and a couple of shows and the ads are horrible. I went to watch a movie and there was about 6 or 7 ads beforehand and then another 3 or 4 after the title of the movie (2, maybe 3 minutes later). By the 3rd commercial break I gave up and turned it off. I ended up finding the movie on the Roku channel with only 2 ads at a reasonable break (5-10 minutes). I will only use Peacock if it is ad free.

I was thinking of doing this even though it had commercials which I am not really a fan of for a paid product, but then I realized they don't even give you the full quality. HD only AND ads? Come on! At least with the others they give you the same product, just with ads. HBO pulling a Netflix style 4K subsidize others nonsense here.

Just wanted to come here and spam the comments since SD seems to be spamming the FP with these 3 deals and not letting them move down. Guessing the featured isn't good enough and the affiliate pay is good.

if you're a fan of 90 day fiance, tlc, magnoliatv, hgtv, and discovery+ in general, this is a great deal because they are included. cheaper than the lowest discovery+ plan at $5.

what i have a problem with is the hbo/max interface. whenever i click on a title for details, there is always a long buffering time. i have the quickest roku with a decent internet speed.

Yes! Please fix the title, OP. I wouldn't have clicked on this had I known it was $18 for 6 months.
Still cheaper than two 12 packs of soda
