Controller warranty is 90 days (might be 1 year for the one that is included with the system). It is based on your your purchase date on the receipt. I only buy controllers from Walmart because their 3 year warranty is so cheap.
Unfortunately, censoring discussion of the topic will not resolve the issue. It's a well established fact that these controllers have an almost eventual drift issue. The only way to "move on" is for a major hardware revision to take place.

For those of you with issues, have you tried cleaning out your controllers or even using something like BW100?
I'm not saying the sensors aren't crap but I think regular cleaning can help with controller life.
I agree with another poster, that MS moving to Hall effect sensors would solve a lot of problems
I don't get why Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft continue to avoid Hall effect sensors. I'm assuming it's because all the companies are too cheap? Meanwhile, Sega was using it for Saturn and Dreamcast over 20 years ago.

Money. Can you imagine how much money they'd lose if customers weren't buying new controllers every few months/every year. It's called planned obscolescence. It's illegal, but hard to prove in court.

Call ms support and ask them to add the 3 year warranty for the elite controller for $20.
Thanks for this. I had no idea I could do this on the elite2 I got from target two weeks ago. Surprisingly they are open today. Filled out their support form and had them call me. They were able to use my microsoft account balance as well.
verizon had the white one for $30 recently but a bunch of people got controllers with expired warranties
Also going to add that when I got the elite series 2 off the recent verizon sale, it showed up packaged as new, but it was clearly used (had stains and fingernail gouges all over the joystick rubber). They wasted 2 hours of my time over the phone only for me to find out i had to take it to a store to refund, and they wouldn't honor an exchange due to the discounted price from buying it online.

regular PS5 Controller still better than Xbox Elite S2. I'd rather spend $100 on two PS5 Controllers than on X Elite S2. I have 7 Xbox controllers and two of them Elite Controllers. And guess what, I primarily game with PS5 Controller on my Series X. The build quality and feel of all buttons of PS5 roller is way superior to Xbox Elite. I love Xbox, but F man they need to up their quality with Xbox controllers.

They need to redo everything about xbox...just taking folks money..
this is not the core, this has all the bells and whistles..
make sure to DL the software (xbox accessories in microsoft app store) and update your firmware.. and you can change the color of the xbox logo on the joystick to red for santa reasons =)

I need an honest opinion. How much better is the Elite 2 over the regular controller? I have never had drift on any Xbox or PS controller. I dont play online, FPS, sports, fighting, or racing games. Would it be worth it for me to get one?
