I have a T-Mobile for Business account and was purchasing a couple apple watches for my kids when my account rep told me about these promotions.

When you add a new digits/smartwatch line for $15, T-Mobile will credit your account up to $300 over 24 months. Additionally, if you add two digits/smartwatch lines, the second line is 50% off and you get another $300 in credits over 24 months.

So, in my situation, I will be getting two Apple Watch SE (gen 2) Wifi and Cellular watches for free via bill credits, plus two digits lines for a net increase in my bill of $22.50 total. As long as you don't care to upgrade the watches for a couple years, it seems like a no-brainer. Thought I would pass it along to anyone else interested.

I'll attach screenshots of the actual promotions sent by my rep.

Thanks for sharing! These promotions work only for when you have an existing phone line correct? I'm trying to get one for my son without a phone and I don't think I can use these promotions there. I do have a T-Mobile connection.

I think this is T-Mobile for Business only. If I could get 2 watch lines and 2 watches and get credits for a watch and credits for a line then I'd be all in on that.

So you get the watch for free but pay $10 per line for 24m?

Basically paying for the watch in the big scheme of things, just not upfront but over two years. They are essentially locking you up for those two years.

Agree, but if you're getting the lines anyway, it's hard to argue with the price.

Yeah, I think you need an existing account.

IMO just buying the watch upfront is better unless you would pay for cellular anyway. If you would pay for cellular for the time you own the watch anyway then this an excellent deal but for everyone else look elsewhere. I've seen SE 1st gen's on sale for $110 at Walmart before

I agree with this analysis. We are using these as an alternative to cell phones (God forbid my preteens have access to cell phones), so it made sense to us since we needed the lines of service anyway.

I keep thinking about lte on watch, but in 10 years of owning a smart watch I've been in a situation where that would have been helpful maybe twice. Even at $10/mo/line (I think it's $15/mo to qualify for this promotion) that's $120/year or $180 @ $15/mo. I really struggle to think of use cases for lte watches.

Yep. They do have or at least did have the $5/ reduced speed lines and sometimes it's nice to leave the phone home for a run but still have a way to call if needed, but if I do a bike ride then I like to take the camera so likely take the phone anyway. I tried it once for 6-8 months at $5 and then cancelled as I maybe did 1-2 calls. The 7 series stainless stell was recently $380 or so at Walmart brand new. It's usually better to just buy the watch stand alone on sale. I would not want to miss the steel version even though I don't use cell ( steel they all come with lte). The frame and the sapphire crystal glass make it much more scratch resistant. And $5 was after auto pay discount so if you have 8+ lines you are maxed out and pay full $10.

Why do you need 5g on a watch?? Doesnt it bluetooth to your phone?

Yes but an LTE watch in standalone mode has it uses. As previously mentioned, going on a run not having to bring an entire phone is definitely a good use case.

My moment of saying to myself "this is no longer a gimmick" is when I got a call on my wrist while driving. My phone didn't buzz me because it fell between a machine at the gym and wasn't in my bag like I thought

For me, the LTE version was good for my preteen kids. They could update the parents when plans changed and I didn't have to commit to giving them their own phones yet.
