A $100 increase certainly doesn't justify double the storage, imo.

Extra $274 is worth it for me for smaller form factor but it's up to you since I have seen lotta good deals for chunky laptops under 1000$

Even the Legion Slim 5 is a little portly for my taste, but between the (slightly larger and higher resolution) OLED screen and quieter operation (superior thermals), I think I'll be OK with the extra 0.3 pounds vs my trusty old G14.
I've been waiting for a reasonably-priced portable gaming laptop with an 120+Hz OLED or mini-LED screen for a while. Though the 2560x1600 G14 screen is sharp/vibrant/responsive, the screen on my 14" Macbook Pro work laptop is more pleasant: some colors on the G14 screen can be harsh, and the MBP causes a bit less eyestrain.

Also, please note that the charger for the Legion will undoubtedly be a lot heavier and bigger than the charger for the ThinkPad.
For office work and web browsing in a lightweight unibody design, the X1 Carbon sets the gold standard.
The Legion Slim 5 Gen 8 isn't a bad option if you want to game on the go, but the laptop has be plugged in in order to harness is full potential.
