This looks like a slightly better deal than the Best Buy deal, for Costco members. Cheaper AppleCare+ but must be purchased with the device. Costco has a 90-day return window.

You raise a good question. If you factor in AppleCare savings ($60) plus the 2% Costco rebate for Executive Members, this one is about $300 cheaper. So, is the new M3 worth an additional $200 - $300? Thoughts?

Can you buy Apple care without the laptop at Costco? So keep the $60 savings.

No, unfortunately you can only buy it with the product.

If you want black color, AV1 decoder and slightly brighter screen/better battery, then M3 Pro is for you.

I'm thinking of getting this laptop for someone with light to moderate video editing. In the future the editing may be a little more intense but nothing like anything professional - more for fun videos. Otherwise it's typical use. Is the M3 really worth it for $230 more?

At some point you gotta say "this is going to be enough". I feel the $1599 price is good for this machine, almost bought the front page best buy deal earlier but ended up getting this instead since I prefer buying from Costco. While the newer processor and GPU, brighter screen and better battery life is nice to have, I just couldn't justify the impact to total price. Over $2K with AppleCare+ seems just too high, for something that I don't generate any income from or need for school or coursework. The net impact on workflow is so small, that even though it will be faster and better, I won't ever notice the difference. That is going to vary from person to person so you have to see what is enough for you or whomever you're buying for.

Yeah I went ahead and pulled the trigger for now. I think it is good enough. Good thing with Costco is if I find a better offer it's easy to return for 90 days.

Low sample test size and ~20% difference = not going to impact any real-world scenario.
256GB is still the only storage size with any meaningful slow down, compared to M1.
