Some people consider Osprey the gold standard for backpacking backpacks. This is their basic model and usually retails around ~$200. I had a watch on it and was surprised to see it for 40% off.

You can also get green for a few $ more.

Last time Osprey did large sales like this they were changing and obsoleting some models. Might be doing it with the Rook/Renn

Used this on a 3 day hike through Yosemite. Pretty decent pack but the straps were digging into my shoulders on day two. That may have been my lack of knowledge on fitting. I paid retail though.

I saw that last year, When they released the new Farpoint, and the older model dropped a lot in price.

Looks great for price. I think biggest thing I would miss is no smaller storage pocket on back or mesh pocket.

On a different pack, I try to adjust the chest strap and balance most of weight on my hips. Also I have taped additional padding on my shoulder straps.

I noticed that the title on Amazon says men's but then down below it says specific fit for women so now I'm not sure on the sizing.

height is 29", I think carry on bags are limited to 21", so no. I usually carry a knife for trips, so have to check it anyway.
