Way better than Blu-Ray.
I have a Sony A80J OLED. The disc barely looks better than 4k streams. The largest difference is audio quality - and even then unless you have a top notch sound system it's not that noticeable. I buy discs, redeem the digital codes and often just stream the movies because it's more convenient and the quality is close enough that it's next to unnoticeable for me.
I think you just made his point kinda true.
If the inferior choice is "close enough" to you doesn't make it false.
I kinda agree with him, depending on the transfer a good player can upscale BD content to streaming 4k content quality.
At the very least "close enough" that it's next to unnoticeable.
I get a chuckle when people talking about the other half of a movie experience say "unless you have a top notch sound system it's not that noticeable"!
Then they go buy some pricey "Atmos" soundbar! A soundbar even a pricey one does not fall under that category!
Got mine today and claimed my 4k digital codes. Was a no brainer getting the brd plus code for $22 when the cheapest code only deal ever has been $20. Got 7 disk for $2, I'll take that deal all day long thanks op!

I was saying the digital streams for 4k are far better than standard Blu-Ray (ie non-4k).
