I have the edifier R1280T, bought them lightly used off eBay for $75, and I've been very happy with them. I actually finally just got around to donating my M Audio's to goodwill, as I was decluttering my old used tech hoard. I like the edifier's a lot better, imaging is fantastic. I use them with a Fiio K5 DAC tho, I much prefer the Fiio to the edifier's integrated dac.

These are what I was leaning as well to replace a super old set of computer speakers. Do you run them wired or do you connect them via Bluetooth?
I have them wired to my sound blaster X.
Splitter between my headphones and these.
I've compared several low/mid range soundbars with all kinds of Dolby Atmos, etc.. claims, but to my ears the Edifier R1280T speakers won out.
I personally bought the Edifier S350DB a couple of years ago instead of a sound bar. I can tell you, it is absolutely a sound bar killer having the sub built in. I see the have some more options out there now for a 2.1 system but can only say that model is the one I have and it is awesome!
