Lexar was the premium removable media storage brand of Micron (a global leader in memory and storage tech), which they acquired in 2006 when Lexar was a moderately successful independent American company. Micron sold the Lexar brand to Longsys [anandtech.com], a Shenzen, China based company in 2017. It's just the shell of a once reputable brand today. Their reliability, speed which made the brand premium is no longer the case.

Their (micro)SD(XC) cards are run of the mill removable memory with branding. They almost never reach their quoted speed class, and suffer a premature death one would expect from half the price cards.

Their NVMe SSDs use NAND flash from YMTC and controllers from Maxio instead of Micron NAND and controllers (naturally as they did in the past). No longer come with DRAM cache. They have absolutely nothing to do with Micron anymore.
Avoid the red PLAY Lexar MicroSD cards. Their read speeds are acceptable at 90 Mb/s but the write speeds are atrocious at 18 Mb/s. Which is why you don't see them advertise their write speeds.

You can get 100 Mb Read AND Write MicroSD from other brands at the same or lower price.

I've heard great things about the NM790, but it needs to be cheaper as the top tier SSD's are just barely bit more expensive but come with better performance and warranty support. Lexar warranty support is nonexistent.
I have had one of the red play microsd cards in my steamdeck for over a year and have had no issues hitting high write speed up to 70-80 MB/s and I am pretty sure that is just the download limit coming from steam.

I see the write speed is 100MB/s on the Amazon product listing.

I bought the version of the Lexar NM790 without a heatsink a couple weeks ago and it's been amazingly fast so far in my PC. Hits advertised read/write speeds.

I wish the version with a heatsink had been available at this price when I bought, but oh well. This is a very good value.

Companies typically make read and write speeds based on maximum burst speeds. For larger file transfers, they usually can't sustain the claimed write speeds. This card has a V30 certification, so it should have at least a 30MB/s sustained minimum write speed, but unfortunately it's not uncommon for cards to fail to meet their rated specs. Or the other user go a lemon.

I stopped buying Lexar because they lie about their speeds and the cards fall apart.

These B.S. titles makes it very frustrating to skim through when there are so many deals posted. It makes it look like 4TB NVME drives are $65, which immediately catches my eye. Then after looking into, it turns out that the $65 price that is highlighted in green is for some bullshit microsd card that was buried later in-line the title. It is like a bait and switch trick. Do you get more fake internet points when you write misleading titles VioletHaddock489 and johnny_miller?

Is this more reliable than the Team Group cards? They have 1tb A2 cards for $50.

The 512MB SSD in this list isn't a deal at $24.99. I bought several in Aug and Sept for $19.99.

Who else sell 1 TB micro SD cards that are:
  1. Faster
  2. More reliable
  3. Similar price?
Not Samsung.
