Not all 'stainless steel' cans are made equal, the foot pedal + soft close on most of simplehuman's cans is nice, and they've got overall great fit/finish. Mine is a slightly different style (pedal on the narrow side), but it's been good for several years.

I got mine for a gift a couple years ago and it seems expensive for a trash can but I can't go back to a random trash can, and I've bought a couple other simple human trash cans in different sizes since. Just everything (the soft close pedal, the fit with the liners, the liner holder) works so well together and looks nice that it almost makes dealing with trash fun.
