So do we need to purchase a phone plan? As referenced in your details, how would I avoid their phone plan and activate with a tracfone plan?

Just order the phone. Phone will default come with sim card and then you can use same sim card to activate with tracfone

looks like only the a54 and moto stylus can be ordered without a plan - when you click the s10e, it explicitly says plan required

You can use the straight talk sim and sign up on tracfone web sight for 10.00 plan? Don't need tracfone sim?

I don't see a $10 plan, the only $10 one I see is a remote alert plan. Not sure that would qualify for the phone to unlock after 60 days.

OP, As others commented, S10e requires plan purchase. There's no Skip for Now button for it. Also the TCL 40XE can be bought for $80 without a plan.

As far as I can make out; neither the Samsung a54 (TF model S546VL) nor the Moto G Stylus 2023(TF Model XT2317DL) can be used on AT&T; the specific models are not listed. Of the 6 phones on the ST black friday page, only the iPhone SE 2022 is allowed on AT&T.

While not a "deal" - Woot has the Moto G stylus 2022 model (XT2211DL) at $86,13; that model is whitelisted on AT&T

You need to order with a plan. Otherwise your ordes may be cancelled.
Lots of people here had bad experience with Straight Talk.
Straight Talk Moto Stylus 2023 is different from that of Metro. It has 4GB RAM and 64 GB, chip Mediatek. So Metro is better but need to wait for 6 months to be unlocked.
