Bought this for my new home build back in March. Builder and plumber wanted to put in a Badger unit but was able to get this one for cheaper so he agreed.

We bought the 3/4 HP version of this. Works well and has much more power than the badger I had in our previous apartment. The so called "noise reduction" is not really a thing. I'm not sure if it's our setup (blanco silgranite single bowl sink and ikea cabinetry) but you can definitely hear it. Sounds like an electric weedeater or high pitched motor. It's about the same as a badger unit. We can definitely hear it throughout our home when it's used in the morning.

If you are looking for sound reduction this one isn't for you. I put the Insinkerator Evolution Compact in my parents home and that is virtually silent. Know it is more expensive than this but good deals can be found on fb marketplace and homedepot/lowes warehouse return stores.

Otherwise it's a good machine. It hasn't struggled with bones, mango seeds, or other hard stuff. It has a removable baffle which is great (meaning you can replace the black rubber piece where water/food go in) without unmounting the unit which was a huge deciding factor for me since my parents previous Frigidaire had no way to replace the baffle. Comes with the electrical cord as well

Just checked the Evolution and it's $227 for 3/4HP. I feel like the 1/2HP in this deal is just too weak
Too weak for what? What are you putting down your drain that needs so much power to break it down. If you ask, most plumbers will tell you not to put any scraps down the drain. It's deceiving, but food waste should go in the garbage.

Thank You OP
Just grabbed one of the Moen GX50C to replace a 30+ year old Kitchenaid KWI-200 that the bearing is going out in, it makes awful noise every time it's ran, no leaks yet. Looks to be about the same physical size as well with the foam insulation sound dampening as the old kitchenmaid

It seems like the better model is cheaper. Why would anyone get the $67 version?

Moen is a great brand. I work on these units all the time and the worse are Badgers; at least the ones contractors install in homes. Here is the video I made of why you'd do best to avoid. https://youtube.com/shorts/HuyHyf...VTjxV0GoNr

Yea I try to put as much food down the disposal as possible except starches which I just throw out in the grass behind our yard. I live in Kansas City and we are not allowed to put our trash in containers. Have to bag our trash and put it on the side of the street. Anytime we leave food inside of any kind a raccoon or stray cat will tear the bag and they will refuse to pick it up.

I guess it's somewhat good for the environment that I'm not sending food waste to the landfill😂
Crazy. In my Michigan city, we HAVE to put our trash in bags and then those bags in our city-provided 55 gallon containers.

Tip for your bagged trash: pour a little bit of ammonia on top when you take out the trash. Not the lemon-scented stuff, the cheap dollar store "It hurts my nose" ammonia. It helps keep the critters away.

We bought American Standard garbage disposal from Costco a couple of months ago when it was on sale -$80 plus $5 for delivery. It's a 1.25 HP unit with stainless steel interior and 10 yr warranty. A solid unit.
We did as well 1-2 years ago. I find ours is overall pretty quiet.

An over-powered disposal will just shake your sink even harder, make it operate louder and possibly shake the sink loose from the caulking over time. The noise is coming from the vibration of the sink via the mount, not just the disposal's motor. Best to learn how to evaluate the proper HP for your application instead of just thinking bigger is better (or more power is better in this case).

But...But...clearly a better sink bolting system is required! How about bolting mounts to the cabinet, with flexible rubber to block water. Since the cabinet's not strong enough, clearly a steel frame for the cabinet is needed.
Cost? Oh right. LMAO

Does anyone know what the cutting heads are like? I wasn't able to find any photos, which is a bit suspicious. What you want is heavy cast pieces like this to pulverize the scraps.

Stamped sheet metal cutting heads like this are to be avoided if you actually use it.
