find me a 24-27 inch 1440p for $85 shipped new. I know the acer is $110 right now but thats $30 more plus tax. Plus a certain site has 10 percent CB which brings this to around $77 shipped to me.

I've never bought a monitor before, always gamed on console and a TV. Does anyone know if this monitor has an external power brick?

Thank you

I think the only reason people are buying these 1080p monitors anymore is for gaming. 1440p gaming monitors still cost a bit of money, even on sale.
no. that's not the "only" reason.... the smaller monitor you can simply look straight ahead and the entire image is inside your field of view. you don't have to move eyes NSEW NE NW NS NE etc and then twitch your eye all over the place. You can literally look straight ahead and focus on the game. Also, it is significantly less demanding on your system, so for example I have a pretty nice system, but instead of running it @ 1920x1080 i run it at 1600x900 and use AMD's upscaling feature with 2.1 AMD fsr for an even greater fps boost.

the best analogy i can give you on high refresh rate is imagine yourself going on a 5 hour drive to visit family... @ 1080p 144/240 you can pretty much set cruise control to 65mph in a 7 series BMW with hybrid engine and go the entire way on cruise control with zero thought on braking and accelaration... with 1440p/4K 144/240 you're going to be driving the exact same car but with a souped up m5 engine, however, your mph will go from 25mph to moments of 75mph but the entire drive now requires the constant distraction of braking and accelaration... the braking can be sudden and jolting where you may even spill your entire coffee over yourself or when you eat something it can be so abrumpt your food spills or you get ketchup on your shirt...

which experience is better?

i think i probably have 12-15 monitors lying around the house? 1080p for pvp gaming (ow2/mw2/mw3/rs6/valorent/fortnite/etc) is the king. this is a sick deal especially if you're playing 60fps and will provide you a buttery smooth gaming experience vs. the jittery slowdown mess that happens when you try and overdrive your system. 1440p monitors at 144/240 is simply a crappier experience unless you're on 4090/i7-14900k/64GB dual rank system with upgraded (EXPENSIVE) custom cooling and the central AC set @ 60F.... and even then i'd argue 1080p at rock solid 240fps-500fps would be a superior experience for PVP games and that's all I play.

if you only want to play PVE witcher 3 / cyberpunk / red dead redemption / etc then it may be argued that the tradeoff of having the fps vary all over the place may not really matter as much and the extra resolution would be cool, but in PVP games staring at water or how cool something looks results in you DEAD which affects your ability to group up with more experienced players or enjoy modes with people that are there to throw games.... you can't really throw a single player game PVE game when you're the only one playing it... 1080p for PVP.

SD effect. I'm betting they didn't anticipate the $20 discount and taking action now. $99 after discount is still pretty slick tho.
