I bought one recently to track my stuff in a shipping container going 2200 miles away. I put it inside my gun case, then inside a box. It tracked 61 times in the route, connected by nearby Samsung devices. Location history shows the map, date, time, street address or highway.

61 times? Is that good? That's approximately every 36 miles you get a ping. Or if traveling by freeway, twice an hour? Or am I overly simplifying it? Obviously more pings near city centers and rest stops?
