They didn't lay off the entire team, they laid off a few hundred out of 5k. Amazon like all other big tech companies have been on a firing spree especially to fund AI initiatives. As we stand now the functionality of the Nest hubs are very limited compared to the Echos. Amazon knows how to hemorrhage money better than anybody, soon to be a monopoly in another sector.

Just did a Target chat and they price matched with free store pickup, and with 5% Red Card savings total was just over $42!

I priced match the Nest Hub Max yesterday with Microcenter, they will probably do the same for this one.

I tried Best Buy, to price match but they said they are not price matching until after the 27th.

I've had the opposite experience...I bought into Echos a few years ago, when the second Gen dot first came out. Added a nest hub a few years ago because I wanted the screen which synced with my Google photos but didn't want a camera.

I almost exclusively used echo initially but more and more I have switched to the nest hub to the point that that is now the only one I use. Echos often get confused or hear me on the wrong device or say they couldn't connect with XYZ device... It's definitely went down hill for me. Nest isn't perfect but works better for my purposes. For me, the $50 is well worth it just for the slide show

I got this from QVC for same price not really sure what it does more than the Lenovo clock I have. I guess you could stream on it. The display looks nice for photographs. Bizarre you can't Zoom or Google Meet on it.

Target rep said the same thing for me at first, and I responded with "I understand, I can just order from them but I really prefer shopping at Target so I thought I'd ask." Then they said they'd make a one time exception.

If it's a $5-$10 price match, they can usually process it even if the merchant is not on the list.
