Now if someone can tell him how to get it unlocked.I Used Spectrum sim to activate the phone.
I activated mine on ATT and did the sim trick. Sorry, not sure how to do it when activated with non-att sim. Good luck!

Can you detail the trick and what steps you did? Thanks!

got the steps from wiki or OP here:

I'm no expert, so please understand I only know it worked for me in my particular situation. You could end up locked to a carrier that you can't afford 😂

4. As with many deals here, a SIM swap method is found which can be used to unlock the device. This was working recently but not sure if ATT would fix it by the time you try it. The steps are as follows.
a. Pay in full for the phone. While your payment will quickly reflect in your account it will be at least a few hours before it updates for the unlock request.
b. When you receive the phone activate it on ATT with the SIM provided. Make sure it shows up on myATT app/in the web so ATT knows and registers the IMEI in the network. Then put the SIM in another unlocked phone, reboot, make some calls and make sure this unlocked phone is now showing under the line in app/web portal.
c. Now go to ATT unlock portal https://www.att.com/deviceunlock/ and then choose not an ATT customer and use the IMEI of ATT phone and submit an unlock request.DO NOT attempt more than twice or you will be blocked for 24 hours.
d.Confirm the unlock request email and receive the unlock code.
e. Only cancel the line after you have unlocked the phone.
Read that thread and see the "Verizon" section of the wiki— that seems to indicate that it might work for non-att phones. Seems like you are locking it to ATT and using some loophole to unlock your paid phone through their portal.

my 13 I bought NIB from Walmart said coverage expired. I contacted apple (set up a call). They transferred me to someone who dealt with this issue specifically. Provided receipt with SN (he actually told me to write SN on the receipt but I used acrobat to type it). Approved it, took a few days and the phone updated to show the coverage thru the date we discussed.
That's a common Apple method, have done this in 2019 as well

If that thing is locked, get one from Walmart, activate on $15 Tracfone plan, request unlock via sms and cancel

Looks easier than Target! How easy is this? How long do you have to wait before asking for the unlock? Is it 100% definite?

Ok let me make sure I've got this right. The process you did is to unlock the phone immediately without waiting for the 60 day unlock period? Or something else?

Yep. Within 3 days of receipt of phone, phone number was transferred out to US Mobile eSIM. Phone shows unlocked in settings.

I see. Because this deal is for an AT&T phone, which SIM method should I use to unlock immediately? Still a bit confused. Thanks!

After reading all comments, I am still confused and not sure if this phone is unlocked and can be used overseas. Is it already unlocked and ready to use with any sims or do we have to make it unlocked?

Could anyone please explain the steps to make it unlocked?

Thanks a lot!

I have family members still using 6S. They don't seem to have any issues. My daughter uses hers a lot. My mom just makes calls and texts these days. My son plays games only.
My father was using an iphone 7 until last month. I was using my 6 as my everyday phone until about 2 years ago. I had the battery replaced once.

The problem for me was that 2 or 3 of the apps I needed to use would say "upgrade to new version" and wouldn't even let me use them until I did. And the new versions you needed ios 12 or something to even download.

At that point, I said it was time and retired the phone after 6 years or so. My father only uses his phone for call, text, and the Line App. Maybe google maps. But he never had any problems with them requiring the new version.

Interesting. I came to Target and they said all iphone 12 were unlocked.

Has anyone opened the box and can confirm if it is locked or unlocked? Thanks
