If you're looking to start keto I'd avoid these due to it being packed in soybean oil; it's highly unstable (has a low shelf life), oxidizes easily, and is related to obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and fatty liver. Despite keto, I'd still stay far away from these particular 'sardines'.

Found this review that partially explains:

"They have a new manufacturer, and not the same product inside now.
Reviewed in the United States on September 22, 2021
Flavor Name: soyabean
Size: 3.75 Ounce (Pack of 1)
These were our favorites, big and meaty, a real sardine, from the herring family. Now they are listed as sprats, which are herring like, tiny little fish and not so meaty. I bought 12 cans thinking they were the same product, but much to my disappointment, they were not, so sad that Bumblebee had to change the product when they bought the Beachcliff brand! So be forewarned!"

Thanks for mentioning that is is soaked in soybean oil. Stay far away if you want to avoid extremely unhealthy oils high in linolenic acid.

Can says Sardines, ingredients says Sprats. I don't think they're the same fish. Weird.

This is identified as an Amazon "Cyber Monday Deal". Do sardines have something to do with computers? Smilie
Cyber Monday does not have anything to do with computer specific deals. It was created as a counterpart to Black Friday which initially was geared towards in store deals and cyber Monday was intended to offer online deals. Of course, as shopping habits have shifted, the lines have blurred and deals are offered both online and in store all Black Friday/cyber Monday weekend.

I've started a keto diet and wanted to add these in. I know they are salty. What would they be good with?

We are from Ukraine originally and my dad loves sprats, and when I saw the ingredients in this is sprats, and for $0.66 each on S&S, it's a crazy awesome deal.

I'm just wondering if they're really the actual, real, thin sprats or regular sardines. I know this is a pretty expensive brand usually so 66 cents each is great.

Thx for the tip. I'm switching to an anti-inflammatory diet so seems like this is a no go. I love sardine for its nutritional value though. Seems the better alternative would be those packed in water only.

I try to like these because they are very convenient and nutritious but they usually just sit in my cupboard until they expire. When it comes down to choosing between sardines and "something else", something else always wins lol.

What a crock of junk science. The omega-3's in linolenic acid are incredibly good for you. Too much of any oil is bad due to the fact that it's high in calories though.

You don't want to eat too Much sardines. You wouldn't want to make them a daily staple because of the risk of mercury poisoning. I mean everything is pretty much bad for you these days though
Do you know how much of ANY fish you'd need to eat to get a dangerous amount of mercury in your body?? A ton.. You have a higher risk of being injured in a car accident, but I'm guessing that you own a car.

Which explains why everyone has gotten so much skinnier in the past 100 years when we went from nearly 0 linoleic acid to a significant amount today.
