I got the this deal, and so regret not getting the 16GB one for 799. For 699 in current deal, the 16GB one is a steal. FYI, for the 8GB RAM, I need to reinstall the Windows 10 with only essential driver and apply World region when setting up, to get it work as smooth as it can get. Moreover, the H chip behaves the same as the U chip with only 8GB of RAM.

I had this and returned it last week because of the cheap hinges connecting the screen to the laptop frame. They used adhesive (lol) to keep the screen panel closed. After two weeks of owning it, I went to close the laptop like normal and it started a real ugly plastic cracking noise. I checked and the screen housing had separated at the hinge.
When I went to return it, the best buy employee fully cracked the screen lol
ASUS gave me a run around on an RMA, made it seem like they would call it "physical damage" and not cover it, so I figured return it.
Plenty of people reporting the same problem when I googled around.
It's a shame because the OLED screen was fantastic. Lacking a GPU, it wasn't like this was going to do much with more than 8gb of ram anyway.

Yeah I feel you. I even had the $699 and with the 16GB fixed RAM and no GPU, I ended up returning and getting the $799 Creator Q530. Its 1080P 60hz OLED looked visually identical to this 2.8K 120hz, plus it had a RTX3050 6GB and is reported to take a 48GB SODIMM to make 56GB RAM total.

What in the world region does that make Win10 run faster? The real way is to run an LTSC or custom tiny build.
For a basic user is 8 gigs really going to slow me down if I don't have a lot of tabs open and such? Definitely considering getting this I-5 version and saving 200
i'd highly suggest going to store and checking out the display. ppl speak of grain so I had to look myself.. it's definitely a very noticeable and distracting 'texture.' I wouldn't call it a 'grainy' look as so many ppl have described it to be. it's more like very high ppi dimpled texture [google dimpled texture and then just imagine that texture at a very high ppi or rather dimples per inch] that looks like you could take it off as if it were a screen protector.. it's a very weird thing.. cause even tho it's a dimpled texture.. it's very very clear in that the texture doesn't degrade the img quality of what you're looking at.. it just looks like a dimpled screen protector is put on top of your display. it's very annoying.. anyways.. i'm very very glad i looked at it in store bc i would not be able to use this laptop due to the 'dimpled texture.' but everyone is diff.. and it may not bother you. if you even think it might bother you, hard pass on this. the display, for me, is a deal breaker. wish it came in non-touch display and I would 100% buy this.
