I think it's pretty messed up of Citi to continuously offer 15% on Black Friday every year, as if that's their major doorbuster point-exchange deal, and have people cash out all of their points for that, thinking they just got an amazing deal... and then just few days later like clockwork, Citi ups it to 20% but now those people don't have any points left to get them because they already used them all up on Black Friday. I feel bad for those who saw that 15% and fell for the bait.

Lesson is to accumulate Citi points til Cyber Monday every year specifically for this promo on Apple GC's; do NOT fall for their Black Friday "deal". Citi really should instead just make it 20% for Black Friday thru Cyber Monday. Not that 15% crap.
I was waiting for the 20% like they do every year - redeemed 75k worth of points

Is it taking a long time for anyone else to receive their eGCs via email?

After about 15 minutes of waiting I asked Citi to re-send the GCs again. One of them arrived in a couple minutes, then at about 20 minutes the original email arrived. The other re-send emails still haven't arrived.
I cashed in for a Bath & Body works card. I received it 25 minutes after submitting the order.

Thanks for that data point. Apparently their system is really slow now because in a prior week when I had no Apple GCs and needed one (sadly only a 10% discount) the email arrived immediately. I am concerned the other GC re-sends still haven't arrived. Regardless I redeemed the GCs in my Apple account, but I have no idea if someone steals my GC emails on the Internet if they can still redeem my GCs if I've already put them in my Apple account.

I have notes I turned on 2FA years ago, but when I buy something in iTunes PC it never sends or asks me to enter a text code from my phone. It's probably because I'm using an old iTunes PC (one that supports app purchases). It's too bad people who don't own any modern Apple products can't use 2FA to make redemptions more secure.

Better to use points to transfer to airlines. Much better redemptions than this
Why do all of you assume we all FLY? some of us have a life and do not have the time to travel and some of us do not care to fly?

So we should just hold the points and not spend them cause since we do not fly according to you we are wasting them. This is so stupid every thread you guys do the same. WE KNOW IT IS BETTER BUT SOME OF US DO NOT FLY.

And why are you in here? there is nothing about airline ticket sales? so why bother? those that fly know this!!

I no longer use my Citi Card, which sits in a drawer, but I have monthly charges on Apple (storage/app renewals / Apple music), and my points were sitting there. I think it was worth getting $300 in cards today and adding it to my account.

Mine arrived in about 10-15 min and applied all three $100 cards to my Apple account w/o issue. I don't use it to buy equipment, but I do have apps that renew, plus storage, plus apple music, plus Apple Care + and more. So this works for me, and I have no indication that people are stealing codes.

Got it. Yeah, I am not in their ecosystem. Was just looking at some hardware devices, and couldn't find one that made sense in terms of the price as most Apple hardware is seeing significant discounts at retailers.
I bought apple gift card on deal like this at this time of the year last few years and load it into my account to fuel the iCloud storage for the rest of the family...even though I'm on android team... The pressure to switch to iOS is getting higher and higher every year lol...
On thanksgiving dinner a few days ago with the big family...I could confirm that I'm the only Android guy....There were a few cousins who rocked Sammy phones last year and they are not single anymore this year...they switched to be on the same boat with their gf or fiancee....

At other retailers, you pay $'s.

At Apple, spending FREE TYP GC is a joy...
But you could equally do this
Cashout 1:1 for dollars to go $+
Then use those $ to buy discounted apple products from Walmart/Target/Bestbuy/Amazon right?

Yikes!

So those who FLY do not have lives? LOL

Sorry your schedule does not allow you to FLY. I do FLY all the time and I have a tremendous life.

But you do you and have a lovely staycation. Use your Spafinder credit at your local spa, catch a film at AMC, stop off at Bath and Body Works for a treat for yourself, before heading to a nice dinner out at Chilis and end the night in bed watching your favorite Hulu series. All possible with these discounted gift cards! Live your best life™

After about 15 minutes of waiting I asked Citi to re-send the GCs again. One of them arrived in a couple minutes, then at about 20 minutes the original email arrived. The other re-send emails still haven't arrived.

It makes me worried my GCs are being stolen by other people on the Internet who know how to hack/filter emails at Internet hubs. Should I redeem them right away in my Apple account even though I don't like keeping a big balance there?

Is your balance safer in your Apple account than on a GC you haven't yet redeemed in your account? I guess I need to look into 2FA for my Apple account for redeeming anything.

Once you redeem your GCs in your Apple account, does that prevent anyone from using a copy of that GC (such as in an Apple store), or is it like Target.com where both the stored online card or a GC printout are equally usable?

I don't own any Apple products but use Apple GCs for iTunes purchases to watch on Apple TV on Android streaming devices.

I was totally out of Apple eGCs a while ago and bought a few small ones at 10% off, but fortunately I saved many points for today.

I could name off other companies (Disney is one) who play the same game. They tout great BF deals and then on CM they have a bigger discount, this time 5% extra. It's definitely a purposeful "how many people can we sucker in at lower discounts and hold out the best discount for later". Unless I'm totally out of GCs or really need something, I'm going to skip BF and wait for CM for both Citi and Disney.

Retailers have effectively killed BF and made it BF month. I hope all the stores will go back to being closed on Thanksgiving day. They took a good thing and ruined it. Even mid summer you get ads saying "Black Friday in July" with meh prices. BF has pretty much lost all of its meaning.
I tested Citi's system by buying just one first. I got the confirmation in about 5min and the gift card email about 5min after that. Once confirmed, I went back to buy the rest of what I wanted.

Citi's system is similar to the Target system where they send you to a link in the email to view/print your gift card. Target's system has an added layer of "security" where it asks for the purchaser's email address. Citi's system is just the link. Anyone with the link can get to the gift card.

Thanks. Maybe Citi's email is working faster now. 15-20 minutes was really slow for me, and only 1 of my GC re-sends showed up. The others went into email neverland.

I'd still like to know if someone else were to intercept the email with the link to the gift card, can they still redeem/use your GC at an Apple store after you've redeemed the GC in your Apple account?

Also, Target asking for the email address doesn't add much because anyone who intercepted an email will know the recipient's email address. I don't know how common intercepting emails is by your average person (the govt intercepts everyone's emails and stores them forever but that is another story). One would hope there is sufficient security in all the Internet gateways and hubs, but I have little confidence in most people and entities.

I meant to mention that I ordered on Sunday night ~10pm PST... it might be slower now that everyone is awake and ordering

Rookie mistake. If you put in multiple orders, they going to flag you. Always put everything in one order

Not worth buying apple GC since you're better off buying apple stuff from other retailers with better discounts. So, bought bath and body works GC's! Thanks OP

Edit: GC email came in 8 mins 🙌🏻

10% points back if you hold a Rewards+ card, making a $100 redemption effectively 7200 points
OP, you mention "+10% points back if you HOLD a Rewards+ card"

That implies that all you have to do to get the additional 10%, is to simply just "HOLD" (i.e. have) a Rewards+ card.
BUT, does that mean even points from OTHER Citi ThankYou cards (i.e. Custom Cash card, DoubleCash 2% card) would get the extra 10%, when THEIR points are redeemed, as long as you just "hold" a Rewards+ card?
OR,
Does it mean that ONLY POINTS FROM THE REWARDS+ CARD get the extra 10%?

This is important because it would dictate how you'd allocate your spending with/between these 3 cards throughout the year, if it's indeed only the Rewards+ card's points that are eligible for the additional 10% (with the points from Custom Cash and Double Cash cards not being eligible for this 10% bonus).

Also, I know that Citi allows you to combine ThankYou points from multiple Citi cards, into one consolidated bucket. I personally would prefer to combine the points from all my card accounts, so that they're easier to redeem as one whole...
However, if you do, Citi warns: "note that if you combine your ThankYou accounts, points are not separated based on which Citi Account they were earned, and are displayed as a total for all Citi Accounts. When you combine your ThankYou accounts, most redemption options available to each individual account will be available with the combined account,,. However, in some situations, you may lose access to certain redemption options if you combine ThankYou accounts."

Question here is: would having all cards' ThankYou points combined into one bucket, REMOVE THIS Rewards+ card's 10% bonus redemption benefit?
If so, then I would NOT do the combining.
But I just don't know if these combined points would be excluded or not, if anyone can please shed some light on this.

Any help (from anyone!) would be appreciated here regarding these questions. Thank you
