They look AMAZING on a tree. You just want to make sure you get the right length for the size of your tree so you dont' have to space them out too much to make the animations too pixely.

Personally since it's the same price, I would get a longer string light: Twinkly - Smart Light String 600 LED RGB Generation II - Multi

My last advice is to not mix different generations and LED types. Getting a Generation II like above is what I have and I love it.

Most people are talking about this for their trees, but what's the set for around the house/roof?

You can be use these around house/roof. They still do cool effects but not as many as if have all on a tree

Anyone know if the 60 dots have the black wire or the clear translucent wire. Description says clear, but photos show
black.

I bought these and returned them. I was hoping to use them on the tree, but they're just too eye-piercingly bright for me. You can turn the brightness down, which I had planned to do, but be prepared for visible flicker. I picked up some classic color incandescents and I'm much happier with the warm glow look of them.

I have two sets of rgbw gen 2's. They're very nice and well made. My only complaint is that there isn't more designs. It's been more than a year and they haven't added anything.

Got the 250 ones from BF for our Xmas tree this year and the kids love it. Such cool lights for the tree. Totally worth it.

You can always make your own custom design with them.

You could try the Govee Xmas string lights. I bought those because they are cheaper than the Twinkly lights and I and everyone loves them.

Ones I bought last year are whitish translucent. I'm picking more up soon, I'll let you know what the color is this time on the dots.

Agreed. I have the 600 and it filled up my 8.5' tree well. I don't think the 400 would be enough.
